SUMMARY
The IT Cable Plant Installation Technician will be supporting the buildup and modernization of DoD facilities. The purpose of this task is to provide Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I)/Information Technology (IT) electronic systems equipment, infrastructure, engineering, design, installation, and Supply and Warehouse support. Services required include design, installation, termination, test, and documentation of desktop devices, peripherals, IT cable plant, rack, power distribution units for the installation of C4I/IT electronic systems and equipment, as assigned and in accordance with government installation design plans (IDP). Assist other functional areas as needed.
Experience: Supporting cabling, equipment, Desktop Deployment, IT network systems installation, troubleshooting, and repair of network systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Systems Administration & Lab Management
-
Install and manage servers, routers, switches, firewalls, and security devices
-
Install and configure operating systems and network hardware
-
Manage lab racks, cabling, inventory, and documentation
-
Maintain and operate lab test equipment
-
Apply STIGs and conduct ACAS scans
-
Configure and maintain HBSS and anti-virus solutions
-
Patch management and firmware updates
-
Support RMF documentation efforts
-
Perform system security checks and ensure compliance
Network & Cabling Installation

Install and test copper, fiber optic, and coaxial cabling
-
Install, label, and document cable plants per IDP
-
Perform rack installation and cabling for IT and communications equipment

Conduct horizontal and vertical cable plant installation
-
Perform AV equipment racking and cabling
Equipment Installation & Testing

Install and configure thick and thin clients per Installation Design Plan

Install and configure servers, network switches, routers, and storage

Provide redundant power and grounding for equipment racks

Perform POST tests and document results

Install and maintain AV equipment (monitors, speakers, VTC, control panels)

Maintain and update design documents (as-built/red-line changes)

Conduct external stakeholder coordination when required for network access.
Facility & Site Support

Install power circuits into equipment

Manage Air-Guard grommet installations

Perform floor tile cuts and firestopping as needed

Conduct site surveys and coordinate with project teams

Present professional craftsmanship in all installation work
Required Skills & Certifications:

Proficient in system administration and network management

Experience with enterprise IT equipment installation

Strong understanding of STIG compliance and RMF

Experience with ACAS, HBSS, patch management

Proficient in structured cabling (Cat6A, fiber optics, coaxial)

Familiar with AV systems installation and configuration

Excellent documentation and communication skills

BICSI ITS Installer certification preferred
