Human Factors Engineer
Washington, DC

Job Description
The Human Factors Engineer will provide support to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on a variety of projects which aim to integrate human factors throughout system development and operations. The Human Factors Engineer will be responsible for analysis of scientific and technical information, application of human factors methods and techniques, development of creative solutions for complex problems, and development of technical reports and supporting data. The Human Factors Engineer will present work products to company team members, FAA personnel, and others. The Human Factors Engineer will participate in industry conferences, contribute to company publications, and develop professional relationships with leaders across the aviation industry.

Sample Work Activities

Examine proposed changes to aviation systems, operations, and procedures to identify human factors integration opportunities early in a design and evaluation process.
Support development and coordination of documentation needed to plan, execute, and closeout aviation human factors research, engineering, and development requirements.
Analyze aviation safety, operations, and research data to identify human factors trends or patterns within a dataset and recommend potential human factors interventions, mitigations, and tradeoffs.
Develop briefings, reports, videos, data visualizations, and other material to communicate complex information clearly and accurately to an audience of technical and non-technical personnel.
Facilitate workshops with field personnel to share and obtain information about potential human factors issues in aviation operations, including air traffic control, flight deck, and maintenance.

Candidate Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Human Factors, Engineering, Psychology, or related discipline
5 - 8 years professional work experience
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
U.S. citizenship or permanent residence
Ability to successfully complete a Public Trust Position (SF 85P) background investigation

Desired Attributes

Advanced degree in Human Factors, Engineering, Psychology, or related discipline
Expertise applying human factors methods within the aviation or air traffic control domain
Experience applying advanced statistical methods to large human performance datasets
Experience supporting FAA or other federal government agencies

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $92,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
