Position Summary
The Maintenance Assistant Supervisor supports the Maintenance Manager in coordinating and overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance activities for manufacturing equipment, production machinery, tooling, vehicles, and facility systems within an aerospace manufacturing environment. This position assists in ensuring equipment reliability, maintaining maintenance schedules and records, supporting improvement projects, and helping lead maintenance personnel to ensure safe and efficient operations.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with industrial machine maintenance, tool and equipment management, maintenance planning, and project coordination. The candidate must be bilingual (English/Spanish), possess strong computer skills, and be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Duties
- Maintenance Operations
- Assist in supervising daily maintenance activities for production machinery, tooling, equipment, facility systems, and company vehicles.
Project Coordination
- Assist with maintenance-related projects, equipment installations, facility improvements, and machinery upgrades.
- Coordinate with production, engineering, and quality departments to support operational requirements.
- Track project timelines, maintenance costs, and resource utilization.
- Recommend improvements to equipment performance, maintenance procedures, and workplace safety.
Maintenance Records & Asset Management
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service records, equipment histories, and inspection reports.
- Manage preventive maintenance schedules for machines, tools, and company vehicles.
- Track spare parts inventory and maintenance supplies.
- Prepare reports and summaries using Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ensure documentation complies with company procedures and aerospace industry requirements.
Leadership & Communication
- Provide guidance and support to maintenance technicians and maintenance personnel.
- Assist in scheduling maintenance staff and assigning daily work priorities.
- Foster a positive, safety-focused work environment.
- Communicate effectively in both English and Spanish with employees, vendors, and contractors.
- Conduct maintenance meetings and support employee training initiatives.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and aerospace manufacturing standards.
- Participate in safety inspections, audits, and corrective action activities.
- Promote preventive maintenance practices that support safe and reliable operations.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance (PM) programs to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability.
- Monitor and schedule repairs for CNC machines, manufacturing equipment, compressors, forklifts, and other production assets.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems.
- Ensure maintenance work is completed efficiently and in compliance with aerospace quality standards.
Qualifications
- Education
- Associate degree in Maintenance Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technology, or related field preferred.
Experience
- 3-5 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in an aerospace or manufacturing environment.
- Previous lead, supervisory, or maintenance coordination experience preferred.
- Experience managing maintenance schedules, work orders, equipment records, and asset tracking.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems.
- Experience with machine tools, manufacturing equipment, and facility maintenance.
- Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and maintenance documentation.
- Familiarity with preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Strong data entry, reporting, and recordkeeping skills.
Language Requirements
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) required.

- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb stairs, and work around manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures.
- Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required to support production schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Aerospace manufacturing maintenance experience.
- Forklift certification.
- Experience with CNC machine maintenance.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles.
- Experience using CMMS software for maintenance planning and tracking.
