Title: LEAD CAREGIVER – INFANT/TODDLER
FLSA Status: Exempt Reports To: Preschool Director

Wesley Children's Program is seeking a nurturing, experienced, and dedicated Lead Caregiver to join our Infant/Toddler Program.

As a NECPA-accredited early childhood program, we are committed to providing a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive. We are looking for an educator who is passionate about working with young children, values strong family partnerships, and enjoys collaborating with a supportive team.

Work Schedule

Monday-Friday
8:00am-4:30pm

Occasional overtime or additional hours may be required to meet program needs.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a related field from an accredited college or university
Minimum 12 credits in Early Childhood Education
Minimum 30 hours of Infant/Toddler coursework
At least 1 year of experience working with infants and toddlers in an educational setting
Qualified through the PATCH Hawaii Registry as an Infant/Toddler Lead Caregiver
Ability to successfully pass all required background checks and health clearances, including Physical and TB testing
Ability to meet all DHS Child Care Licensing requirements

Position Summary

The Lead Caregiver is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, healthy, nurturing, and engaging environment where infants and toddlers can learn and develop through age-appropriate experiences. The Lead Caregiver supports children's social-emotional, physical, language, cognitive, and early math development while fostering positive relationships with families and staff.

Essential Responsibilities

Create and maintain a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment
Provide active supervision and ensure children remain within sight and/or sound at all times
Plan and implement curriculum using Creative Curriculum as a framework
Develop and submit monthly lesson plans
Facilitate engaging daily learning experiences
Observe, assess, and document children's growth and development
Communicate regularly with families regarding children's progress and development
Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers
Use positive guidance techniques to support children's behavior and social-emotional development
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and licensing requirements
Maintain awareness of children's allergies, medications, and medical needs
Monitor classroom supplies and communicate purchasing needs
Maintain required child-to-staff ratios at all times
Supervise, support, coach, and mentor assistant teachers and aides
Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities
Complete a minimum of 16 hours of professional development annually
Maintain all required licensing, registry, and background check requirements
Protect the confidentiality of children, families, and staff
Arrive on time and follow attendance and call-out procedures
Follow all Wesley Children's Program policies and procedures
Present a professional appearance and maintain positive communication with children, families, and coworkers

Physical Requirements

Ability to frequently walk, bend, kneel, and actively engage with children
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to work indoors and outdoors
Ability to use a computer, copier, telephone, and other office equipment
Ability to communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
