Full Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Infection Control Practitioner to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of infection prevention strategies, epidemiology, and microbiology, with a strong background in acute care settings such as hospitals, assisted living facilities, or Level I and Level II trauma centers. This role requires a proactive professional committed to safeguarding patient health through meticulous infection control practices, data management, and staff education. As an Infection Control Practitioner, you will play a vital role in developing, implementing, and monitoring infection prevention protocols to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and promote a safe environment for patients and staff alike.

Duties

Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive infection control policies aligned with current public health guidelines and OSHA standards.
Conduct routine surveillance of infectious diseases, utilizing data collection and management tools to identify trends and outbreaks promptly.
Review medical records and documentation to ensure accurate reporting of infection incidents while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations.
Educate healthcare personnel on best practices for aseptic technique, patient observation, and microbiology principles to minimize infection risks.
Monitor patient care activities, including patient observation and physiology assessments, to ensure adherence to infection prevention measures.
Lead investigations into infection outbreaks or incidents, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to implement corrective actions effectively.
Maintain expertise in anatomy knowledge, microbiology, epidemiology, and infectious disease care to inform evidence-based practices.
Oversee the management of care plans related to infection prevention and control strategies across various departments.

Qualifications

Proven experience in infection control within acute care environments such as hospitals or assisted living facilities.
Strong background in critical care settings including Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers.
Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records review, and documentation review processes.
Familiarity with data management systems used for tracking infections and compliance metrics.
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to educate staff on infection prevention protocols effectively.
Comprehensive understanding of microbiology, epidemiology, public health principles, and OSHA standards related to healthcare safety.
Experience with nursing practices and medical-surgical procedures is highly desirable.
Excellent communication skills necessary for training staff and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
