About Us

PropellerHeads is a growing managed IT and cybersecurity provider supporting businesses throughout the Midwest. We specialize in modernizing IT environments by leveraging Microsoft 365, Azure, virtualization, cybersecurity, networking, and cloud technologies.

We are seeking a motivated and capable IT Systems Technician to assist with infrastructure modernization, cloud migrations, virtualization, network administration, cybersecurity initiatives, end-user support, and technology projects across multiple client environments.

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement with significant opportunities for hands-on technical experience and career growth.

Position Overview

The successful candidate will work closely with senior technical staff to support and improve client environments ranging from traditional office networks to manufacturing and industrial systems.

Frequent onsite work will be required at a client facility in Union City, Indiana during the initial phases of a major infrastructure rebuild and modernization project. As the environment stabilizes, onsite requirements are expected to decrease, transitioning to a more flexible hybrid schedule with remote work available when onsite presence is not required.

Following completion of the rebuild, ongoing travel to Union City will still be required as needed for help desk support, troubleshooting, infrastructure maintenance, project work, and client support.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, learning new technologies, and taking ownership of projects from start to finish.

Responsibilities

Provide technical support for Windows workstations, laptops, and end users
Deploy, configure, and maintain PCs, printers, and endpoint devices
Administer Microsoft 365 environments including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory)
Assist with Microsoft Azure cloud environments and cloud infrastructure
Support Windows Server administration
Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot VMware virtual machines and virtualization environments
Assist with cloud migration and infrastructure modernization projects
Troubleshoot networking, wireless, VPN, internet, and SD-WAN connectivity
Support Fortinet firewalls, VPNs, and security appliances
Support UniFi switching, routing, and wireless infrastructure
Configure and troubleshoot VLANs, routing, DNS, DHCP, and network connectivity
Work with vendors and technology partners to resolve hardware and software issues
Maintain technical documentation, asset inventory, and network diagrams
Participate in cybersecurity initiatives and infrastructure improvement projects
Respond to help desk requests and onsite technical issues
Assist with technology planning, deployments, upgrades, and client projects

Required Qualifications

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Experience supporting Windows desktop environments
Familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration
Experience working with Active Directory user and computer management
Basic understanding of networking concepts including:
TCP/IP
DNS
DHCP
VLANs
VPNs
Routing
Ability to work independently while also collaborating with a team
Strong communication and customer service skills
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Preferred Experience

Experience with one or more of the following technologies is highly desired:

Microsoft Azure
Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory)
Microsoft 365 administration
VMware or Hyper-V virtualization
Windows Server
Virtual machine deployment and administration
Fortinet firewalls and security solutions
UniFi networking and wireless infrastructure
SD-WAN technologies
Dell servers and storage platforms
PowerShell scripting
RMM and endpoint management platforms
Microsoft Intune
Microsoft Defender
Cybersecurity best practices
Manufacturing or industrial IT environments

Travel Requirements

Applicants should be comfortable working onsite several days per week in Union City, Indiana during the early stages of a large infrastructure rebuild and modernization effort.

Following completion of the rebuild, the role will transition to a more flexible hybrid schedule. Ongoing travel to Union City may still be required for help desk support, troubleshooting, project work, infrastructure maintenance, user support, and other client needs.

Additional travel to client locations throughout Indiana and occasional travel to our client site in Colwich, Kansas may be required. All approved travel expenses will be covered by the company.
