Chief Commercial Officer (CCO)

Position Summary
A well-established, privately held industrial manufacturing company with a long-standing reputation for excellence in precision machining, heavy fabrication, and complex engineered solutions is seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) to lead its commercial organization and drive long-term growth.
This executive leadership role will be responsible for developing and executing the company’s commercial strategy while expanding relationships within the civil infrastructure market, including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), state Departments of Transportation (DOTs), engineering firms, and other public-sector clients. The CCO will oversee all business development functions, including outside sales, inside sales, estimating, and commercial marketing, ensuring alignment between customer needs, operational capabilities, and strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive commercial strategy that supports the organization’s long-term growth objectives.
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing commercial organization, including outside sales, inside sales, estimating, and business development professionals.
- Develop and strengthen strategic relationships with federal, state, municipal, and engineering partners, including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, state DOTs, and consulting engineering firms.
- Identify and pursue opportunities within the navigable waterways, lock and dam, bridge, marine infrastructure, and heavy industrial markets.
- Lead proposal strategy, pricing, contract negotiations, and commercial risk assessments for complex infrastructure projects.
- Collaborate closely with executive leadership, engineering, operations, and project management teams to align commercial opportunities with operational capacity and technical expertise.
- Direct commercial marketing initiatives that strengthen market presence and brand recognition within targeted industries.
- Represent the organization at industry conferences, trade associations, client meetings, and public-sector events.
- Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and customer needs to identify new growth opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related discipline required.
- MBA or other advanced business degree strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in heavy industrial manufacturing, marine fabrication, structural steel, civil infrastructure, EPC, or heavy construction markets.
- Demonstrated success developing business with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, state Departments of Transportation, or other public-sector infrastructure agencies.
- Experience leading business development, sales, estimating, and commercial strategy functions.
- Strong understanding of public procurement, government contracting, and infrastructure project delivery.
- Proven ability to develop strategic growth initiatives and lead high-performing commercial teams.
- Excellent executive presence, leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Willingness to travel as needed for client meetings, industry events, and project site visits.
Preferred Experience
- Navigable waterways, lock and dam systems, marine infrastructure, bridge construction, heavy structural steel, or complex industrial fabrication.
- Federal and state infrastructure programs.
- Large-scale capital projects and engineered manufacturing environments.

Pay: $142,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
