Full Job Description

Summary

The Underwriter Assistant supports underwriting operations by processing applications, maintaining accurate records, and assisting underwriters in evaluating risks. This role ensures efficient workflow, data accuracy, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

The Underwriter Assistant will be responsible for:· Reviewing insurance applications for completeness and accuracy· Entering and maintaining data in underwriting systems· Assisting underwriters with gathering and organizing risk information· Preparing policy documents, quotes, and endorsements· Communicating with agents, brokers, and internal teams

Essential Duties

· Review applications and supporting documents for accuracy and completeness· Input, update, and maintain policy information in underwriting systems· Request and follow up on missing documentation from agents or brokers· Prepare quotes, binders, certificates, and policy documents· Process endorsements, cancellations, and reinstatements· Order and track reports (MVRs, loss runs, inspections, etc.)· Maintain organized, accurate, and audit-ready underwriting files· Assist with policy renewals and updates· Support underwriters with day-to-day tasks and risk evaluation preparation

Non-Essential Duties

· Assist with administrative tasks and special projects· Participate in team meetings and training sessions· Support process improvements and system updates

Supervisory Responsibilities

· This position does not include direct supervisory responsibilities· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support underwriting operations· Provide informal guidance to junior staff or interns on underwriting processes and client service best practices

Required Skills & Qualifications

1. Education and Experience

· High school diploma or equivalent required· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred· 1–2 years of insurance, underwriting support, or administrative experience preferred

2. Technical and Computer Skills

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)· Familiarity with underwriting or policy administration systems· Strong data entry and organizational skills

3. Language Skills

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

· Ability to communicate clearly with agents, brokers, and internal teams

Chinese speaking prefered for diverse clientel

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

· Basic knowledge of insurance and underwriting principles· Experience in auto, commercial, or specialty insurance· Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
