Position Summary
The IT Support Apprentice is an entry-level position designed to develop foundational technical support skills through structured training, hands-on experience, and mentorship. This role provides first-level support for hardware, software, mobile devices, network connectivity, printers, communication systems, and user account administration.
The apprentice works under the direction of the IT Manager while learning company systems, IT processes, and industry best practices. Emphasis is placed on developing troubleshooting skills, customer service, technical documentation, asset management, and information security awareness.
Success in this role is defined by consistent improvement in technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, customer service, and the ability to independently resolve routine support issues. This position serves as a developmental pathway into higher-level IT Support or Systems Administration roles.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Support
· Provide first-level technical support for employees in person, by phone, remotely, and through ticketing systems
· Assist with installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of desktop computers, laptops, printers, mobile devices, desk phones, and related hardware
· Troubleshoot software, operating system, and application issues
· Verify functionality of hardware and software components following installation and maintenance activities
· Escalate complex issues to the IT Manager as appropriate
User Administration & Onboarding
· Assist with new hire technology setup, including workstation preparation, account creation, equipment deployment, and user orientation
· Assist with employee offboarding activities and access removal as directed
· Support user account management activities within Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft 365 environments
· Assist with assigning licenses, permissions, groups, and user profiles under supervision
Infrastructure & Systems Support
· Assist with basic network troubleshooting and connectivity issues
· Support printer deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities
· Assist with administration and support of phone systems, mobile device management platforms, and remote support tools
· Support routine maintenance and monitoring activities for company systems and technology assets
Documentation & Asset Management
· Maintain accurate inventory records of computers, mobile devices, network equipment, printers, and other IT assets
· Document technical procedures, troubleshooting steps, and standard operating procedures
· Update documentation as technology and processes evolve
· Track equipment assignments and lifecycle status
Learning & Development
· Complete assigned training related to Microsoft 365, Active Directory, networking, hardware support, cybersecurity awareness, communication systems, and company-specific technologies
· Develop proficiency with remote support tools, asset management systems, deployment software, and collaboration platforms
· Demonstrate initiative in learning technical concepts and applying newly acquired knowledge
Team Support
· Assist the IT Manager with assigned projects and operational tasks
· Provide excellent customer service to internal users
· Collaborate effectively with employees, vendors, and department leaders
· Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent required
· Associate degree, vocational training, or coursework in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred
· Previous customer service or technical support experience preferred but not required
· Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record preferred

· CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent knowledge preferred
Physical Requirements
· Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the workday
· Ability to use computers, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment for extended periods
· Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
· Ability to travel between company locations as needed, up to 10% of the time
Work Environment
This position primarily operates in a professional office environment but may require work in warehouse, shop, or outdoor environments while supporting company technology assets. Employees may occasionally be exposed to varying temperatures, dust, uneven surfaces, and weather conditions.
