Since 2004, Rustica has been a Minnesota favorite for exceptional pastries, bread, desserts and remarkable coffee and teas. We have some of the most experienced and talented baristas and bakers. We bake and perfect the beloved Rustica favorites, while introducing some new, creative and delectable goodies. We are looking to grow our team. We have an opening for a full-time and part-time BARISTAS at Rustica Bakery in Wayzata. Weekend availability is required.
The role of the Barista is to prepare quality espresso beverages, serve the guests in a friendly sincere manner and guarantee them the best possible guest experience. This role is not limited to the espresso machine and requires the ability to assist guests in many roles.
REPORTING STRUCTURE :
The Baristas and Counter-Cashiers reports directly to the Shift Lead, Assistant Manager or General Manager on duty. The Barista and Counter-Cashiers will also work with other staff to supply pastries, food and drinks for the guests. During the shift the Barista and Counter-Cashiers will report to the Shift Lead, Assistant Manager or General Manager with guest problems.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
Here is a general list of responsibilities to give an understanding of what will be done during a shift, but the responsibilities as a member of the restaurant team are not limited to this list.
- Follows the Core Values.
- Follow the appropriate training guidelines and test to become a barista.
- Knowledge of espresso equipment and how to properly use the espresso machine, grinders, coffee machine, hot water tower, bread slicer, turbo chef etc.
- Ongoing coffee training as needed to ensure quality standards are being met.
- Warmly greet and offer products and assistance in a friendly and sincere manner.
- Keep up on seasonal menu changes and accurately describe menu items.
- Knowledge of expiration dates on products and how to properly find allergens in products.
- Putting the guests’ needs before all else, including side work, breaks, leaving early.
- Accurately take guests’ order and properly use the POS system.
- Accurately deliver guests’ food in an open style.
- Ensure quality food and beverages for your guests.
- Up-sell and suggestive sell.
- Call out orders in a clear and concise manner, facilitate customer inquiries at the bar, ensure guests are receiving the correct drinks.
- Ensure each guest is thanked and leaves the store taken care of.
- Communicate with and support all staff to serve the guests.
- Anticipate and exceed your guest’s expectations.
- Keeps Management informed of potential problems, product issues, customer complaints.
- Work as a team and use positive communication skills at every opportunity.
- Anticipate and participate in completion of side work tasks.
- Clean, stock, and maintain workstation throughout shift.
- Bus tables, bring bus bins to the dishwasher, put away clean dishes.
- Empty trash and keep the dining area neat and tidy.
- Making sure the dining room and patio are regularly bussed, cleaned and free of litter.
- Put away deliveries as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to work in a fast paced, high energy, and physically demanding environment for periods of up to 8 hours in length.
- Must have a good sense of balance, be able to bend and kneel and have the ability to lift bus pans and trays frequently weighing up to 50 pounds 60% of the shift.
- Will spend 98% of the time standing and walking.
- Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively to guests and other employees.
- Must be able to hear with 100% accuracy with correction.
- Must be able to see to 20/20 vision with correction.
- Must be able to speak the primary language of the restaurant, appropriate to its location.
