Join our dynamic team as a HLS GN&C Flight Simulation Engineer and become a vital contributor to support NASA as an Oceaneering Teammate on the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) II contract. As an integral part of our organization, you'll play a crucial role in the GN&C Aerosciences and Flight Mechanics section in the Engineering Department on the NASA JSC Engineering, Technology and Science II (JETS II) Contract .

Someone in this role would typically have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering . This position can be hired at any level in our professional career framework, depending on business need at the time of hire.

**International travel may be required. Straight time overtime, 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), and/or 1 day of telework per week may be available**

Required

Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering experience in the field or in a related area.
Experience in the development of flight control systems for aerospace vehicles
Experience developing, verifying, and validating GN&C math models and 6-DOF simulations
Experience with Linux, C/C++ and Python
Experience modeling and analyzing dynamic systems in the frequency domain.
Familiarity with system identification and building linear models from time-domain measurements.
Ability to organize and prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision

Preferred

MS in Aerospace Engineering with on a focus on GN&C and flight controls
Knowledge of GN&C principles with a background in flight dynamics/orbital mechanics
Knowledge in the design, analysis, and implementation of navigation algorithms
Experience contributing to large, multi-language simulation and architectures and ability to learn unfamiliar code bases.

Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.

Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions
Job tasks are performed in close physical proximity to other people

As a HLS GN&C Flight Simulation Engineer you will:

Provide math modeling and simulation development of guidance and flight control algorithms for automatic and piloted manual flight of lunar landers
Develop formal math model and simulation documentation
Identify team simulation tasks, resolve simulation related issues and assist team members.
Directly interact with the NASA customers, along with various NASA support contractors, during technical meetings and working groups.
Perform other duties as required.
