Overview

Join our dynamic healthcare technology team as a Mainframe Analyst, where you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and optimizing our core mainframe systems that support critical healthcare operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to leverage your expertise in mainframe environments, system design, and integration to ensure seamless data flow, security, and performance across our infrastructure. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions that enhance system reliability and efficiency, ultimately improving patient care and operational excellence. Responsibilities

Analyze and maintain mainframe systems within healthcare environments, ensuring high availability and performance.
Develop, test, and implement system solutions using languages such as COBOL, PL/I, or Assembler, aligned with healthcare data standards.
Collaborate with solution architects to design scalable and secure system architectures leveraging Service-oriented architecture (SOA) principles.
Manage ETL processes for extracting, transforming, and loading healthcare data across various platforms while maintaining data integrity.
Monitor and optimize IT infrastructure components including operating systems (z/OS, Linux), virtualization (VMware), and cloud platforms like AWS or Azure for healthcare applications.
Conduct vulnerability assessments and implement system hardening measures to uphold information security standards specific to healthcare regulations.
Support system integration efforts utilizing RESTful APIs, SOAP web services, and microservices architectures to connect diverse healthcare systems such as Salesforce or Pegasystems.
Perform troubleshooting, debugging, and performance tuning of mainframe applications to ensure compliance with SLDC (Software Development Life Cycle) best practices.
Implement continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like Jenkins or Git to streamline updates and enhancements.
Ensure network security through VPNs, firewalls, DNS management, and threat intelligence practices tailored for healthcare data protection.

Skills

Extensive experience with mainframe systems including z/OS or equivalent platforms in healthcare settings.
Strong knowledge of system design principles, system architecture, and systems engineering methodologies.
Proficiency in programming languages such as COBOL, C#, Java, Python, SQL (including T-SQL), PL/SQL, and scripting languages like Bash or Shell Scripting.
Familiarity with database management systems including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL databases like Cassandra or MongoDB.
Expertise in IT infrastructure components such as load balancing (F5), virtualization (VMware ESXi), container orchestration (Kubernetes), and cloud services (AWS/Azure).
Deep understanding of computer networking concepts including DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, and network security protocols relevant to healthcare data privacy standards.
Knowledge of DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or similar tools for efficient deployment cycles.
Experience working within Agile environments utilizing tools like GIT for version control and JIRA for project management.
Ability to perform vulnerability assessments and implement threat mitigation strategies aligned with healthcare information security regulations.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues related to system architecture or application performance in a fast-paced environment.
