Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Batch Scheduler with expertise in batch scheduling and workload automation to support a large-scale modernization initiative within a leading global financial services organization. This individual will play a critical role in managing and optimizing enterprise batch processing, ensuring applications are scheduled and executed accurately while supporting thousands of production requests each month.
This position is based out of Lake Mary, FL with a hybrid schedule requiring three days onsite per week. The ideal candidate is a hands-on production scheduler with deep experience in BMC Control-M.
Key Responsibilities
Batch Scheduling & Workload Automation: Manage, schedule, and optimize enterprise batch processing using BMC Control-M across both mainframe and distributed environments, ensuring accurate, timely, and reliable execution of production workloads.
Mainframe Operations: Support workload automation within z/OS environments, leveraging experience with TSO/ISPF, JCL, and enterprise scheduling practices including calendar maintenance, special day processing, and batch dependency management.
Production Support: Monitor daily batch processing, troubleshoot scheduling issues, resolve production incidents, and optimize scheduling performance to support high-volume operational demands.
Modernization Initiatives: Contribute to the DTC Re-Modernization project by supporting the migration and enhancement of enterprise batch scheduling processes while maintaining operational stability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with application developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to coordinate scheduling requests and ensure successful implementation of production workloads.
Technical Support & Training: Provide guidance and virtual training to internal users on scheduling requests, system functionality, and operational best practices while delivering exceptional customer support.
Documentation & Operational Excellence: Develop and maintain scheduling documentation, operational procedures, audit reports, disaster recovery processes, and batch calendars to improve efficiency and governance.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, workload automation, or production batch scheduling
2+ years of hands-on experience with BMC Control-M (required)
Strong experience working with z/OS, TSO/ISPF, JCL, UNIX, and Windows operating systems
Experience using ServiceNow and Microsoft Office
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to resolve production scheduling issues
Excellent communication skills with experience supporting and training internal users in a virtual environment
Financial services experience strongly preferred
Experience supporting large-scale enterprise production environments with high-volume batch workloads
Preferred Experience
Experience with REXX, CLIST, SAS, Python, or Splunk
Mainframe programming experience including JCL, COBOL, DB2, and CICS
Experience with SQL, Java, or C++
Knowledge of Agile or Scrum methodologies
