County-Wide Field Manager

Davidson County Democratic Party

Reports to: Chair, Davidson County Democratic Party Status: Temporary, Part-Time Compensation: Up to $35/hour (based on experience), up to 20 hours/week Term: Now through November 3, 2026

Job Summary

The Davidson County Democratic Party is building out its field program to elect Democrats up and down the ballot in 2026. The County-Wide Field Manager reports directly to the Chair and is responsible for executing the Party's overall field program through Election Day. This role directly leads countywide volunteer field efforts, works in close coordination with the Precinct Captain Program, and partners with the Target Races Lead to keep paid canvassing and target-race field work aligned with countywide strategy. The County-Wide Field Manager is also the Party's main point of contact with the Tennessee Democratic Party and with individual campaigns operating across Davidson County, and must be fluent in VoteBuilder and NGP VAN.

Where This Role Sits

Reports to: Chair, Davidson County Democratic Party
Peer roles: Target Races Lead, Voter Engagement Chair (both also report to the Chair)
Directly leads: Countywide volunteer field program
Coordinates closely with: Target Races Lead (and, through them, Paid Field Organizers) and the Precinct Captain Program

Responsibilities

Program Leadership

Design and execute the county party's overall field program from now through November 3, 2026.
Directly lead and coordinate countywide volunteer field efforts.
Work in close, ongoing coordination with the Precinct Captain Program to align precinct-level organizing with the countywide field plan.
Coordinate with the Target Races Lead to keep paid canvassing and target-race field operations aligned with the county party's overall field strategy and shared voter contact goals.
Set and track weekly and monthly field metrics (doors knocked, voter contacts, volunteer shifts, precinct coverage, etc.) and report progress to the Chair.

Data & Voter Contact Tools

Maintain and manage voter file data in VoteBuilder and NGP VAN, ensuring accurate, up-to-date lists and turf-cutting across the countywide program.
Train precinct captains, volunteers, and other field staff on proper VAN data entry and use.
Pull and analyze VAN reports to track program progress and inform strategy.

Coordination & Communication

Serve as the primary liaison between the Davidson County Democratic Party and the Tennessee Democratic Party on field strategy, data, and resources.
Serve as the primary point of contact between the county party and individual campaigns operating in Davidson County, coordinating shared turf, resources, and messaging.
Meet regularly with the Target Races Lead and Voter Engagement Chair to keep the full field program — target races, precinct captains, and countywide volunteers — coordinated and moving toward shared goals.
Communicate regularly with the Chair on field program progress, challenges, and needs.
Provide a weekly written summary of field activities to the Chair.
Submit a monthly Effort Report on program activities.

Volunteer Support

Recruit, train, and manage countywide volunteers supporting the field program.
Help plan and staff canvass launches, phone banks, and other voter contact events.

Ideal Candidate

Passionate about electing Democrats and building durable local political infrastructure.
A natural coordinator and communicator who can align multiple teams — precinct captains, target-race field staff, and volunteers — around shared goals without direct authority over all of them.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing data alongside people.
A clear, professional communicator who can represent the county party well to the state party and campaign partners.

Essential Skills

Fluency in VoteBuilder and NGP VAN required — including list building, data entry standards, and reporting.
Experience recruiting, training, and managing volunteers or field staff.
Strong cross-team coordination skills; able to keep multiple workstreams (precinct captains, target races, countywide volunteers) aligned without formal authority over every team.
Able to consistently hit weekly and monthly field metrics under a compressed election timeline.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including comfort communicating with campaign staff and state party officials.

Job Requirements

Prior field organizing or campaign management experience required (paid or extensive volunteer experience).
Demonstrated experience with VoteBuilder and NGP VAN.
Full availability required now through November 3, 2026, including evenings and weekends as Election Day approaches.
Access to a reliable vehicle; regular travel throughout Davidson County is required.
Detail-oriented and able to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Positive attitude and strong commitment to the mission of the Democratic Party.

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
