Quality Control Microbiologist (Micro / NIR (FTIR) / QA-QC)

Precision Nutra — Tempe, AZ | Full-time, On-site

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Precision Nutra is a full-service dietary supplement manufacturer in Tempe, AZ — capsules, powders, liquids, bottles, jars, sachets and stick packs. We're hiring a Quality Control Microbiologist to own our in-house micro testing program and take on hands-on QA/QC work alongside it.

This isn't a bench-only job. You'll run micro and NIR, own environmental monitoring and cleaning validation, manage our third-party lab relationships, and keep our vendor and material qualification programs current. Your results decide what ships.

What You'll Do

Microbiology

Test raw materials, in-process material, and finished products using AOAC methods: aerobic plate count, yeast and mold, coliforms/E. coli, Salmonella, S. aureus
Prepare and QC culture media and reagents; perform growth promotion testing
Maintain strict aseptic technique; operate and maintain incubators, autoclave, and biosafety cabinet

Environmental Monitoring & Cleaning Validation

Execute the environmental monitoring program: routine surface and air swabbing, sample plan design, trending, and investigation of excursions
Write, execute, and maintain cleaning validation protocols and reports
Perform post-cleaning verification (swab recovery, allergen and residue checks) and support changeover release

NIR (FTIR)

Perform NIR identity testing on incoming dietary ingredients per 21 CFR Part 111
Maintain and expand the NIR spectral library; support method validation and instrument calibration
Investigate non-conforming spectra and escalate appropriately

QA/QC & Vendor Programs

Coordinate outsourced testing with third-party contract labs: sample submission, scheduling, result review, and follow-up on OOS results
Own and monitor the vendor qualification and raw material qualification programs — supplier approval, COA verification, material specifications, and requalification
Review batch production records; support release/hold decisions
Support OOS/deviation investigations, CAPA, and SOP authoring and revision
Help maintain inspection and audit readiness

What You'll Bring

Required

Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Food Science, or a related field
Minimum 1 year of hands-on micro testing experience in dietary supplements or food
Strong aseptic technique, media prep, plating, and enumeration skills
Working knowledge of cGMP and Good Documentation Practices
Clear written communication
Comfortable at the bench and out on the production floor

Preferred

Experience with environmental monitoring programs and/or cleaning validation
NIR spectroscopy experience (or the ability to learn instrumentation quickly)
Knowledge of 21 CFR Part 111
Prior experience managing contract labs and environmental monitoring
