Full Job Description

Job Title: Network Engineer

The Network Engineer will support the setup, operation, and maintenance of the distributed network infrastructure of a data center campus. This position involves assisting with network configuration, troubleshooting, and documentation across all areas of the facility network including firewalls, switches, VLANs, wireless access points, and fiber connectivity. The Network Engineer works closely with the IT team to ensure stable, secure, and efficient network operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in the installation, configuration, and support of Palo Alto firewalls and Cisco switches.
Support the setup and maintenance of VLANs, access control lists (ACLs), and network segmentation.
Help configure, install, and monitor Unifi (Ubiquiti) wireless access points, controllers, and guest network systems.
Troubleshoot basic connectivity issues involving fiber and copper cabling, patch panels, and transceivers.
Perform routine network monitoring and maintenance, including reviewing logs and responding to alerts.
Document network configurations, diagrams, and change management records.
Deploy and test network devices during upgrades or new site installations.
Participate in projects and training activities to expand technical knowledge of enterprise networking.
Follow established procedures for change management, configuration, and security compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related technical field.
(Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.)
1–3 years of hands-on experience in a network support or systems administration role.
Basic knowledge of network fundamentals including IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, and routing.
Familiarity with Palo Alto or Cisco network equipment is preferred.
Understanding of wireless networking and basic fiber/copper cabling principles.
Exposure to network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, or similar platforms.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to follow direction, document work clearly, and learn new technologies quickly.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, unstructured environment with a strong sense of ownership and accountability for the network.
Willingness to travel for project support or training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or JNCIA.
Experience working in environments with Palo Alto, Cisco, or Unifi equipment.
Familiarity with basic command-line configuration and troubleshooting tools (SSH, ping, traceroute, etc.).
Desire to pursue ongoing technical training and advancement within the network engineering discipline.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must be U.S. citizens. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Job Type: Full-time

Base Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
