Full Job Description

The Role

This role exists to install, configure, and troubleshoot low voltage systems at client sites across the state. You are the person who shows up, gets the work done cleanly, and leaves the client confident their systems will work.

This is hands-on field work. You will deploy structured cabling, mount cameras and access points, install AV and paging systems, configure access control, and rack networking equipment. You will also troubleshoot what you and others have installed, and you will train end users on what you deployed.

You will be in the field, often working independently, with direct client contact every day. The quality of your work and the way you carry yourself in front of clients are both visible. Both matter.

Cabling pulled correctly. Equipment mounted properly. Terminations tested and labeled. The job looks like a professional did it because a professional did.

Systems That Work When You Leave

Every system you deploy is tested, verified, and documented before you call it complete. Clients should not need a callback because something was missed.

The Client Experience

You represent Blue Fox Group on site. You communicate clearly, explain what you are doing in plain language, and answer questions without making the client feel uninformed.

Accurate Documentation

Every ticket, every site visit, every piece of equipment installed is recorded in the PSA system. Future technicians, including you, will rely on what you wrote down.

Continued Technical Growth

The technology stack keeps changing. You stay current on the systems we deploy, pursue relevant certifications, and bring back what you learn to help the team.

What You Will Actually DoInstallation and Deployment

Pull and terminate structured cabling: CAT5e, CAT6, fiber, phone lines
Mount and configure security cameras, access control hardware, AV equipment, and paging systems
Rack networking equipment and install wireless access points
Run power and data to new equipment locations, working cleanly inside walls, ceilings, and equipment rooms
Verify every installation with proper testing tools before signing off

Troubleshooting and Support

Diagnose issues on installed systems, isolating cabling, hardware, and configuration problems
Coordinate with the support team on complex issues that span multiple technologies
Resolve client issues efficiently to minimize downtime
Escalate appropriately when an issue requires senior engineering support

Client Communication

Explain technical work to non-technical clients in language they can act on
Provide basic training on systems you have deployed
Set clear expectations on timing, scope, and any changes to the original plan
Represent Blue Fox Group professionally at every site, every visit

Documentation and Tickets

Use the electronic PSA ticketing system to record work performed and time expended for each call
Document client environments thoroughly for historical reference and future troubleshooting
Update inventory and equipment records as installations are completed

Professional Development

Pursue manufacturer and industry certifications relevant to our product lines
Stay current on new technologies as we add them to our service offerings
Share what you learn with the rest of the technical team

Who You Are

You have 2 to 4 years of hands-on installation experience. You have personally pulled cable, mounted equipment, terminated connections, and configured low voltage systems. This is not your first installer job. You have seen what good and bad installations look like, and you do good ones.

You work cleanly and methodically. You take pride in the way an install looks when it is done. Cable runs are neat. Terminations are correct. Equipment is mounted level and labeled. You do not cut corners because you know who has to come back and fix them.

You are self-directed in the field. You can be sent to a site with a scope of work and execute it without needing constant check-ins. You manage your time, your truck, and your tools without being managed.

You communicate clearly with clients. You can explain what you are doing and why, in language a non-technical person understands. You keep clients informed throughout the visit and you do not leave them guessing.

You troubleshoot systematically. When something does not work, you do not guess. You isolate the problem, test your assumptions, and fix the root cause. You document what you found so it does not surprise the next person.

You are a steady team player. You back up your teammates, share what you know, and ask for help when you need it. You are reliable, predictable, and easy to work with.

You are committed to learning. Technology changes. You stay curious about new systems, ask good questions, and pursue certifications that make you better at the work.

Technical Requirements

2 to 4 years of documented installation and configuration experience in low voltage technologies
Hands-on experience with structured cabling: CAT5e, CAT6, fiber optic, telephone
Working knowledge of security cameras, access control systems, AV equipment, paging systems, and wireless networking
Ability to read blueprints and floor plans, and to plan cable routing in occupied buildings
Comfortable with ladders, lifts, and the physical demands of the trade
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record (you will be driving company or personal vehicle to client sites across the state)
ConnectWise or other PSA software experience is a plus, not a requirement

Compensation and Benefits

Pay: $25.00 to $30.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and skill level.
