School Nurse RN - 1:1 High School Student - Trach/Vent - Norwich, CT $62+/hour$62+/hour

School Schedule * No Nights * No Weekends 1:1 Patient Care

The Nurse Network is hiring an experienced RN to provide one-on-one care for a high school student with complex medical needs. Enjoy a consistent daytime schedule while making a meaningful difference every day. This rewarding opportunity offers a consistent daytime schedule while allowing you to make a meaningful impact in a student's daily life.

The nurse will accompany the student to and from school, provide individualized nursing care throughout the school day, and ensure the student's safety, comfort, and well being while following the individualized plan of care. School-Year Schedule (Times May Vary):

Monday: 8:20 AM – 2:25 PM
Tuesday: 8:30 AM – 11:55 AM
Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 2:45 PM
Thursday: 9:45 AM – 2:25 PM
Friday: 8:20 AM – 2:25 PM

Prior to starting, nurses will participate in our school nurse in-service training, where they will learn all student-specific information, care requirements, school protocols, and expectations to ensure confidence and success in the role. We also keep our nurses informed of future school and healthcare opportunities that match their experience and availability.

Requirements

Active Connecticut RN License
Strong respiratory and tracheostomy care skills (required)
G-tube experience
Compassion, patience, and a passion for working with children
Pediatric experience preferred

Key Responsibilities

Meet the student at the designated transportation pickup location each morning
Provide direct nursing care during transportation and throughout the school day
Monitor for changes in condition and respond according to the individualized care plan
Perform tracheostomy care, suctioning, and G-tube feedings via pump as needed
Assist with transfers using a mechanical lift and provide incontinence care as required
Support communication needs while fostering a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment
Accompany the student during the afternoon ride home
Collaborate with school staff, family members, and healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care
