Front Desk Agent – Comfort Inn & Suites Rochelle (Choice Hotels)

About Us

At Comfort Inn & Suites, part of the Choice Hotels family, we pride ourselves on offering exceptional hospitality and a warm, welcoming environment. Our Front Desk Agents are the face of the hotel—ensuring every guest has a smooth, pleasant, and professional experience from check-in to check-out.

Objective of the Position

The Front Desk Agent is responsible for maintaining and promoting hospitality at all times by welcoming and serving guests in a courteous, efficient, and friendly manner. You will serve as the central point of communication and coordination for all departments, working with optimism, accuracy, and professionalism to provide outstanding guest service.

Job Summary

As a Front Desk Agent, you will assist guests with all aspects of their stay, including reservations, check-ins, check-outs, billing, and general inquiries. This role requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a positive, solution-oriented mindset in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Service Excellence

Greet every guest warmly upon arrival and departure.
Deliver prompt, friendly, and efficient service throughout every shift.
Assist with check-ins, check-outs, and room changes.
Respond to all guest requests, inquiries, and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
Resolve guest issues effectively, or escalate to management when necessary.

Reservations & Computer System Operations

Input and retrieve guest information, room assignments, and rate details using the hotel’s property management system (PMS).

Process credit card, debit, cash, or gift card payments accurately.
Generate room keys, invoices, and receipts.
Handle phone calls for room bookings, information requests, and internal transfers.

Communication & Coordination

Coordinate with housekeeping and maintenance to ensure rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for occupancy.
Communicate special guest requests (e.g., late check-outs, room preferences) to appropriate departments.
Provide accurate local information and directions to guests (restaurants, attractions, transportation).

Cash Handling & Admin Tasks

Count and balance cash drawers at beginning and end of shifts.
Maintain accurate records of room charges and adjustments.
Monitor inventory levels of front desk supplies and request replenishment as needed.

Cleanliness & Organization

Keep the front desk, lobby, and guest-facing areas clean and organized.
Maintain all front desk tools, office supplies, and technology in good condition.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience

High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Previous hotel or customer service experience is a plus, but not required (training provided).
Comfortable using computers and reservation systems.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, reach, grasp, and perform repetitive motions.
Must be able to lift or carry up to 20-40 lbs occasionally.
Must possess clear hearing and vision for effective communication.
