Billing Specialist

Location: Remote

Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | Standard Business Hours

The Role

We’re looking for a full-time Billing Specialist to help support a smooth, accurate, and patient-centered revenue cycle experience. This role is responsible for processing infusion-related medical claims with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, compliance, and reimbursement optimization.

The Billing Specialist will support infusion services billing activities, including claim creation, claim submission, payer follow-up, rejected claim resolution, documentation review, billing issue resolution, and account activity documentation.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, comfortable reviewing clinical and billing documentation, and able to work independently in a remote environment. They understand the importance of accurate billing, clear documentation, payer requirements, timely follow-up, and strong communication across clinical, operations, revenue cycle, payer, and provider teams.

In this role you will:

Create, review, and submit all insurance and third-party payer claims accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with payer requirements, billing regulations, and organizational standards.
Review orders, authorizations, clinical notes, treatment records, medication details, coding information, payer requirements, and billing documentation to confirm claims are ready for submission.
Resolve rejected electronic claims and payer edits to support successful claim submission and reduce future rejections.
Research and resolve billing issues related to eligibility, benefits, authorizations, medical necessity, documentation, coding, modifiers, NDC information, HCPCS/J-codes, CPT codes, and payer requirements.
Partner with intake, authorization, clinical, operations, revenue cycle, and business teams to support timely claim submission and reimbursement.
Follow HIPAA, payer, organizational, and compliance guidelines while maintaining billing accuracy and quality standards.

What we’re looking for:

Experience in medical billing, revenue cycle management, claims processing, denials management, collections, or a related healthcare reimbursement role.
2+ years of infusion billing, infusion reimbursement, or specialty healthcare billing experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of claim submission, payer requirements, reimbursement processes, denials, rejections, appeals, and collections activities.
Familiarity with CPT, HCPCS/J-codes, ICD-10 coding, modifiers, authorization requirements, and medical benefit billing practices.
Ability to review clinical and billing documentation to identify missing information, claim barriers, documentation deficiencies, and billing errors.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities, billing work queues, payer follow-up activities, and filing deadlines.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with payers, patients, provider offices, and internal teams.
Proficiency with healthcare billing systems and Microsoft Office applications.
