OSP Professional Engineer / Project Manager

Location: Remote
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: Competitive, based on experience + benefits (Up to $150,000)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Outside Plant (OSP) Professional Engineer (PE) with strong Project Management (PM) experience to join our growing telecommunications engineering team. This position is ideal for a licensed Professional Engineer who can lead OSP engineering projects from planning and design through permitting, construction support, and project closeout while ensuring technical excellence, budget compliance, and client satisfaction.

The successful candidate will manage multiple fiber optic and telecommunications infrastructure projects, coordinate cross-functional teams, and serve as the Engineer of Record when required.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the engineering, design, and delivery of OSP fiber optic network projects.
Serve as Project Manager for multiple concurrent telecommunications projects.
Prepare, review, and seal engineering drawings and construction documents as a licensed Professional Engineer.
Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
Coordinate with clients, municipalities, utility companies, and permitting agencies.
Manage project risks, change orders, and overall project performance.
Oversee field investigations, route selection, and constructability reviews.
Review OSP designs for compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
Mentor junior engineers and designers.
Support construction activities by responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and resolving field issues.
Monitor project financial performance and prepare regular status reports.
Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Required Qualifications

Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in [State] (or ability to obtain reciprocity).
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
7+ years of OSP telecommunications engineering experience.
3+ years of project management experience.
Experience with fiber optic network design, utility coordination, and permitting.
Strong knowledge of aerial and underground OSP infrastructure.
Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
Experience managing project schedules and budgets.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.
Experience with FTTH, FTTx, long-haul, and middle-mile fiber projects.
Knowledge of NESC, NEC, DOT, and utility design standards.
Experience using AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS platforms, or OSP design software.
Familiarity with utility pole attachment processes and make-ready engineering.
