Full Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Paralegal/Legal Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate have 1-2 years of experience. The role requires a strong writing, communication skills and organizational skills. This position can be filled by an individual with less experience in the legal field, but intelligent and willing to learn. The position would require 5 days a week in the office.

Small and busy law firm specializing in Family Law seeks a receptionist/office assistant in its New Brunswick office.

Primary responsibilities

Answer telephone and engage in telephone communication with clients, court staff and other offices
Prepare legal documents, correspondence and discovery request
Gather facts, investigate case law, review court decisions
Communicate with Spanish speaking clients and members of the community
Handle the mail and calendar
Maintain and organize physical files
Maintain and organize digital files
Assist in digitizing files
Prepare emails and correspondence
Maintain office neat and organized
Assist with the preparation and assembly of documents to be filed with the court
Go to post office and courier service drop locations as/when needed.
File/retrieve documents at/from county court or clerks offices as/when needed
Notarize signatures if/as needed.

Skills
- Strong administrative skills with the ability to multitask effectively
- Excellent writing abilities
- Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures
- Have experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, AI

- Have the ability to multitask and prioritize

- Have the ability to work independently

- Have good grammar and writing skills for the preparation of emails and correspondence

- Be a Notary Public or have the ability and willingness to begin the processing of becoming one upon being hired

- Ability to speak Spanish.

- Experience with CLIO or other legal software management preferred
