Business Context:

With over 35 years of expertise, Operation Europe Ltd. is a trusted incoming tour operator specialising in customised special-interest group travel across Europe and the UK. Strong supplier partnerships and a reputation for quality enable us to deliver seamless, tailored travel experiences.

The Role:

Operation Europe is seeking an experienced and relationship-driven Business Development Manager to drive growth across our educational travel and special-interest group travel sectors throughout the UK, Europe, and Morocco.

This role will focus primarily on developing partnerships with study abroad institutions and international education organisations, while also identifying opportunities within special-interest travel markets, including performing arts, music, history, cultural heritage, sports, faith-based travel, and customised affinity group programs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for building strategic partnerships, generating new business opportunities, and positioning Operation Europe as a trusted destination management partner for transformative educational and experiential travel programs.

The ideal candidate is passionate about international education, cultural exchange, and experiential travel. They have experience building partnerships within higher education while also understanding the unique needs of special-interest groups seeking meaningful and customised travel experiences. They are a consultative salesperson, strong networker, and relationship builder who can identify opportunities, foster long-term partnerships, and contribute to Operation Europe's continued growth across educational and specialty travel markets.

Key Responsibilities:

Educational Travel & Higher Education Partnerships

Develop relationships with education partners, study abroad providers, and international education organisations.
Engage with education abroad departments, international program directors or department heads.
Promote customised faculty-led programs, experiential learning opportunities, and educational travel experiences.
Expand Operation Europe's presence within the global higher education sector.
Special Interest Travel Development
Identify and cultivate business opportunities within special-interest travel markets.
Develop relationships with organisations, associations, clubs, and group leaders seeking customised travel experiences.
Support the growth of programs focused on performing arts, music, cultural heritage, history, sports, faith-based travel, and other affinity-based interests.

Sales & Business Development

Generate new leads and maintain a robust sales pipeline.
Deliver presentations, destination showcases, and partnership proposals.
Negotiate RFP, SLAs and long-term partnership agreements.
Achieve annual revenue and growth targets.

Industry Engagement & Market Development

Represent Operation Europe at international education conferences, travel trade shows, and industry events.
Monitor trends within study abroad, student mobility, educational travel, and special-interest tourism.
Identify emerging markets and opportunities for strategic growth.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Travel and Tourism, business development, partnership management, or sales.
Proven ability to develop strategic partnerships and generate new business.
Strong understanding of group travel planning and client relationship management.
Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Ability to travel domestically within the US and internationally upon request.
Existing relationships with study abroad providers, educational travel organisations, or affinity group leaders.
Experience designing or selling faculty-led, experiential learning, cultural immersion, or special-interest travel programs.
Familiarity with international education networks and educational travel associations.
Knowledge of European destinations and group travel operations.
Additional language skills are advantageous.
