Full Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Retina Practice Administrator to lead the operational, financial, and cultural success of a fast-paced, multi-provider retina practice. This role serves as a key partner to physician leadership and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of practice management, including operations, revenue cycle performance, staff development, compliance, and patient experience.

The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with deep ophthalmology/retina experience, strong financial acumen, and a passion for building high-performing teams in a patient-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

Direct day-to-day operations across clinical and administrative departments
Optimize patient flow, scheduling efficiency, and clinic throughput
Implement and monitor KPIs to drive performance and continuous improvement
Ensure seamless coordination between providers, technicians, and front office teams

Financial Oversight

Manage practice budget, forecasting, and financial reporting
Oversee revenue cycle management including billing, coding, collections, and AR
Identify opportunities to improve profitability while maintaining quality care
Partner with ownership on strategic growth initiatives and capital planning

Physician & Executive Collaboration

Serve as a trusted advisor to physician partners and executive leadership
Support strategic planning, service line expansion, and practice growth
Translate clinical vision into operational execution

Team Leadership & Culture

Recruit, train, and develop high-performing staff and managers
Foster a positive, accountable, and patient-focused workplace culture
Lead performance management, coaching, and employee engagement initiatives

Compliance & Risk Management

Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, Medicare, and state regulations
Maintain readiness for audits and accreditation requirements
Oversee policy development and implementation

Patient Experience

Champion exceptional patient care and service standards
Monitor patient satisfaction and implement improvement strategies

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred)
Practice management experience, with retina or ophthalmology strongly preferred
Proven experience managing multi-provider, high-volume medical practices
Strong knowledge of retina-specific workflows, diagnostics, and procedures (e.g., injections, OCT, FA)
Demonstrated success in financial management and revenue cycle optimization
Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Experience with EHR/PM systems
