We are seeking an entry- to mid-level PHP Developer to join our software engineering team. In this role, you will help build, maintain, and improve PHP/MySQL web applications, backend systems, internal tools, and AI-enabled workflows used across the company.
This position is a good fit for someone with hands-on PHP and MySQL experience who enjoys solving problems, working within existing codebases, learning new tools, and contributing to software that continues to evolve over time. You will work with our development team on internal applications, backend features, integrations, automation, Ubuntu-based server environments, and AI-related tools, including local LLMs, API-based AI services such as ChatGPT and Claude, and our in-house LLM framework.
What You’ll Work On
- PHP/MySQL applications and backend systems used across the company.
- Internal tools that improve team workflows and operational efficiency.
- Data workflows, integrations, automation, and external API connections.
- AI-enabled applications and workflows using local LLMs, API-based AI services, and our in-house LLM framework.
- Existing codebases that require debugging, refactoring, cleanup, performance improvements, and long-term maintenance.
- Basic Ubuntu server maintenance and deployment support.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, test, debug, and maintain PHP-based web applications and backend features.
- Work with existing PHP codebases to troubleshoot issues, fix bugs, improve functionality, and increase long-term maintainability.
- Write clean, organized, and maintainable code following team standards and best practices.
- Work with MySQL databases, including writing queries, updating data structures, and assisting with performance troubleshooting.
- Build and maintain integrations with internal systems, third-party services, external APIs, and AI-based tools.
- Help develop and support application features that use local large language models, API-based AI services such as ChatGPT and Claude, and our in-house LLM framework.
- Assist with basic Ubuntu server tasks, including reviewing logs, managing permissions, troubleshooting issues, and supporting deployments.
- Use version control tools such as Git to manage code changes and collaborate with other developers.
- Test application changes carefully to ensure functionality, reliability, usability, and compatibility with existing workflows.
- Document technical changes, development processes, and application updates as needed.
- Continue learning PHP development practices, application security concepts, API integrations, server maintenance, and AI-assisted development tools.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience developing web applications using PHP.
- Experience working with MySQL, including writing and troubleshooting SQL queries.
- Ability to read, understand, debug, and improve existing codebases.
- Experience integrating with APIs or third-party services.
- Interest in or experience with AI-enabled applications, large language models, prompt design, or AI-assisted development workflows.
- Familiarity with API-based AI services such as ChatGPT, Claude, or similar tools.
- Interest in working with local LLM tools and related application integrations.
- Experience using Composer for PHP dependency management, or willingness to learn.
- Experience using Git, GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, or similar version control tools.
- Basic experience working with Ubuntu servers, Linux command-line tools, web server configuration, logs, permissions, or deployment tasks, or a willingness to learn.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of basic software development practices, testing, and documentation.
- Understanding of application security basics, including input validation, authentication, permissions, and secure coding practices.
- Ability to communicate clearly, ask questions, work well with a team, and learn new technologies and development practices.
