SUMMARY:
The Warehouse Yard Driver is responsible for safely moving trailers, containers, and equipment throughout the yard while supporting warehouse and shipping operations through forklift operation and material handling. This hybrid role serves as both a trailer spotter and CDL driver, occasionally performing over-the-road deliveries as needed. The position plays a critical role in maintaining efficient yard flow, ensuring timely loading and unloading activities, and supporting overall warehouse productivity.
Working Schedule: Monday - Friday 1:30 PM to 10 PM
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Must possess and maintain a valid CDL Class A license (required for occasional travel between facilities up to 30 miles)
- Must possess a valid DOT medical card
- Must pass DOT physical and drug test
- Minimum 1 year experience in yard spotting or driving, and warehouse operations
- Must pass background check and have a clean driving record
- Tanker and hazmat endorsements preferred.
- Be able to lift, push or pull – minium 50 lbs
- Forklift experience preferred (sit-down, reach truck, rider jack, or similar equipment); willingness to be cross-trained
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and yard safety practices.
- Experience performing equipment inspection and reporting maintenance issues.
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions and flexible schedule.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate yard trucks and/or tractor-trailers safely in compliance with all company, local, state, and federal regulations
- Safely move trailers, tanks, containers, and equipment within the facility yard and between company & local vendor locations (as needed)
- Position trailers at loading and unloading docks according to operational schedules or as dispatched by our yard management system (YMS)
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks, yard equipment (including tires, lights, brakes, fluid levels, and safety devices) and document findings and report them promptly.
- Monitor yard conditions and report safety hazards, equipment damage, or unsafe conditions immediately
- Verify registration, inspection stickers, and required documentation are current.
- Maintain accurate driver logs and operational records in accordance with DOT regulations
- Assist in maintaining accurate records of trailer locations and yard inventory.
- Coordinate with warehouse, shipping, and receiving personnel to support daily operations
- Utilize handheld devices and WMS to perform core tasks, including unloading, PO receipts, putaway, replenishments, sales order picking, staging, consolidation and loading.
- Operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely and efficiently to move and store materials
- Verify completion of required safety inspection checklists (e.g., iWarehouse) prior to operating equipment
- Verify accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks and report discrepancies to management
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready work area, including general housekeeping duties
- Follow all safety procedures, cGMP guidelines, SOPs, and work instructions to ensure a compliant work environment
- Support food safety requirements by ensuring proper handling, storage, and adherence to all applicable policies and standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand, walk and/or sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to perform tasks requiring repetitive motion and bending
- Must be able to bend, reach, twist, grasp items, lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs. Anything above 50 lbs requires secondary assistance
- Ability to work in varying warehouse temperature conditions
- Adhere to strict safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment
