About Shreiner Tree Care

Shreiner Tree Care is a TCIA-accredited, family-owned Tree Care and Plant Health Care company with over 40 years of service excellence across the Main Line and surrounding communities. We employ a team of ISA-certified arborists dedicated to science-driven arboriculture. We offer a friendly and safe work environment focused on delighting our customers each day.We are looking for an HR leader who understands that our greatest asset is the team of skilled professionals we attract, develop, and support.

Position Summary

The Human Resources Manager will serve as the architect and steward of Shreiner Tree Care’s workforce culture. This is a hands-on, field-aware, recruiting/team building role — not a corporate HR desk job or compliance type position. The right person understands that tree care is a physically demanding, technically specialized, and safety-critical trade. You will lead all functions of human resources: recruitment, onboarding, workforce development, compliance, coaching, and retention — building systems that help our people grow alongside the company.

Core Responsibilities

Recruitment & Hiring

Design and execute recruitment strategies to attract experienced arborists, climbers, groundsmen, PHC technicians, and support staff
Build and maintain professional industry relationships.
Screen candidates with an eye for both technical aptitude and cultural alignment with Shreiner’s standards of respectful, friendly and hardworking.
Coordinate and conduct structured employee interviews and skills assessments; oversee employment offers.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills beneficial

Onboarding & Integration

Develop and continuously improve a structured onboarding program that prepares new hires for safe, productive, and confident starts
Ensure new field employees receive thorough orientation on industry requirements, PPE standards, equipment operation protocols, and the Shreiner safety culture
Assign mentors and define 30/60/90-day check-in milestones for all new hires
Coordinate licensing, certification tracking and required training (pesticide applicator, CDL, ISA credentialing, TCIA accreditation standards)
Cultivate a welcoming culture where new employees feel valued, informed, and set up for long-term success

Workforce Development & Coaching

Build and manage a skills development program that creates clear advancement pathways from groundsman to climber to arborist certification
Work with ISA-certified arborists and PHC tech to design internal training programs aligned with industry’s best practices
Provide one-on-one coaching support to crew leaders and team members on communication, problem solving and management
Facilitate performance review schedules that are constructive, growth-focused, and tied to measurable outcomes

Qualifications & Experience

Required

5+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a field-based, trades, labor-intensive, or outdoor services industry (tree care, landscaping, construction, utility, agriculture, or similar strongly preferred)
Experience building or significantly improving onboarding and workforce development programs
Track record of coaching frontline supervisors and managers through performance and employee relations situations
Proven ability to build trust and credibility with both field crews and office leadership
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic, seasonal business environment
Proficiency in applicant tracking, and Microsoft Office / Google Workspace
