Senior Controls Engineer

$170,000 - $180,000 + Bonus + Unlimited PTO + Hybrid Working + Technical Leadership + Progression

Are you a Senior Controls Engineer looking for the opportunity to shape the future of a growing engineering team? Do you want to lead technical decisions, mentor engineers and work on cutting-edge renewable energy projects from concept through commissioning?

On offer is a rare opportunity to join a specialist EPC engineering company where you'll provide technical leadership across major industrial energy projects, influence engineering standards and play a key role in developing the next generation of the controls team.

This company is a market-leading consultancy specializing in industrial energy projects. As the controls department continues to grow, they are looking for a senior technical expert who can help drive engineering excellence, mentor junior engineers and establish best practices across the business.

In this role, you'll lead the design and development of PLC control systems, oversee controls strategy across multiple EPC projects, provide technical guidance to engineers and support commissioning activities when required. You'll work closely with project managers, multidisciplinary engineering teams and operations to deliver complex industrial automation solutions.

This role would suit a Senior Controls Engineer looking to step into a technical leadership position while remaining hands-on with complex engineering work and having a genuine influence on the direction of a growing controls department.

The Role

Lead the design and programming of PLC control systems for industrial energy projects
Provide technical leadership and mentor junior Controls Engineers
Develop controls standards, best practices and engineering processes
Oversee projects through the full EPC lifecycle from concept through commissioning
Approximately 20% travel supporting project start-ups and technical project delivery

The Person

Controls Engineering experience
Leadership or mentoring experience within an engineering team
Industrial process, RNG, LNG, Biomass, Wastewater, EPC, or similar project background
Strong PLC programming experience (Studio 5000/Rockwell)
Experience with P&IDs, panel design and leading complex controls projects
