Job Title: Menu Analyst

Reports To: Menu Director

Management Position: No

Position Type: Part-time, Sub-Contractor, 10-20 hours per week

Pay Structure: Flat Rate

Position Location: Remote

Availability: Monday-Friday (flexible hours)

Travel Requirements: No travel is required.

Position Overview: The Menu Analyst completes the menu analysis portion of the Administrative Review.  The role will review supporting menu documentation (nutrition facts labels, recipes, production records, and CN labels or Product Formulation Statements) submitted by the sponsor to verify the meal pattern requirements are met for each grade group for a one-week period.

The USDA Menu Compliance Worksheet tool will be completed for each unique menu. A menu results report will then be completed for each unique menu based on the USDA worksheet to include any corrective action and technical assistance to bring the menus into compliance.

This position requires a strong knowledge of meal pattern requirements and calculating meal pattern crediting using manufacturer nutrition information, recipes, and the Food Buying Guide. An eye for detail is essential along with effective writing skills to convey menu findings to the sponsors. The position requires the ability to work independently and efficiently to meet timelines.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Complete menu analysis
Review all required menu documentation submitted by the sponsor to verify the meal pattern requirements are met for each grade group for a one-week period.
Complete the menu results report for each menu based on the USDA worksheet.
Calculate meal pattern crediting using manufacturer nutrition information.
Collaborate with team members to ensure a consistent work product across all areas

of review.

Work alongside State Agency partners to fulfill the needs of each specific contract,

which may include regularly scheduled calls, training, and report creation.

Knowledge Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in human nutrition, or related field.
Knowledge of Federal and State Regulations pertaining to child nutrition programs specifically the USDA Food Buying Guide.
At least two years of prior school food service or NSLP menu planning/analysis.
Experience with Child nutrient analysis software programs preferred.

Skill requirements:

Self-initiative for project development and implementation.
Strong interpersonal skills
Effective organizational skills
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 suite

Additional Requirements:

Fingerprint clearance (as applicable) will be required.
