MMS Adult Day Center provides supportive, structured, and community-based services for adults with developmental disabilities. Our services may include Adult Day Support, Vocational Habilitation, Community Integration, Non-Medical Transportation, Respite, and Homemaker/Personal Care supports.
We are seeking a dependable, experienced, and hands-on DSP Manager to lead direct support staff, oversee daily program operations, promote high-quality services, and help ensure all client care, staffing, documentation, and compliance expectations are consistently met.
This position is ideal for someone with strong leadership skills, experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, and a working knowledge of Ohio DODD provider expectations.
Position Summary
The DSP Manager is responsible for supervising Direct Support Professionals, supporting daily operations, monitoring service delivery, assisting with staffing coverage, and ensuring staff provide respectful, person-centered care.
This role serves as a bridge between leadership and frontline staff. The DSP Manager must be organized, proactive, calm under pressure, and able to coach staff while maintaining a positive, accountable workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, coach, train, and support Direct Support Professionals and DSP/Driver staff.
- Assist with daily staffing assignments, break coverage, client supervision, and schedule adjustments.
- Monitor staff performance, attendance, punctuality, professionalism, and compliance with agency policies.
- Conduct regular check-ins, coaching conversations, and corrective action support as needed.
- Help onboard and train new staff on agency policies, client needs, documentation standards, emergency procedures, and daily routines.
- Ensure staff complete required documentation accurately, timely, and in accordance with ISP and provider requirements.
- Review service notes, attendance records, incident reports, medication-related documentation, transportation records, and daily communication for completeness.
- Support implementation of Individual Service Plans, behavior support plans, safety plans, seizure protocols, medication plans, and other client-specific supports.
- Respond appropriately to client needs, behavioral concerns, medical emergencies, transportation issues, and staffing concerns.
- Assist with incident reporting, follow-up documentation, internal investigations, and communication with leadership.
- Help maintain a safe, clean, structured, respectful, and engaging program environment.
- Monitor staff credentials, training requirements, background checks, CPR/First Aid certifications, driver documentation, and expiration dates.
- Assist with audit preparation, provider compliance records, staff files, and quality assurance projects.
- Communicate professionally with families, guardians, support administrators, county boards, vendors, and internal staff.
- Support community outings, transportation coordination, and client participation in meaningful activities.
- Perform direct-care duties when needed to maintain staffing ratios, ensure safety, or support client needs.
- Complete other duties assigned by leadership.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least 2 years of experience working as a Direct Support Professional, in adult day services, residential services, healthcare, social services, or a related provider setting.
- Prior supervisory, lead DSP, team lead, or management experience strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to professionally address staff concerns, client concerns, and family communication.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in urgent or fast-paced situations.
- Strong computer skills, including email, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and documentation systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and privacy expectations.
- Must be dependable, punctual, professional, and able to lead by example.
- Must be able to pass all required background checks.
- Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and ability to meet agency driver requirements preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with the following experience are strongly preferred:
- Ohio DODD provider agency experience.
- Knowledge of Adult Day Support, Vocational Habilitation, Community Integration, HPC, Respite, and/or Non-Medical Transportation.
- Familiarity with ISP implementation, service documentation, incident reporting, medication documentation, billing support, and Medicaid waiver services.
- Experience monitoring staff training files, credential requirements, background checks, and personnel documentation.
- Knowledge of provider compliance, audit preparation, quality assurance, and agency policies.
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Experience with behavior supports, crisis prevention, seizure protocols, medication administration, or supporting individuals with complex needs.

Work Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- Primarily daytime hours
- No evenings or weekends unless discussed in advance or needed for operational coverage
