Full Job Description

The Position

We are seeking a consultant with several years of professional experience or an advanced degree to support strategic planning, policy research, and economic analysis related to transportation, infrastructure, and economic development.

This role is intended for candidates who are ready to move beyond purely technical analysis work and contribute to the interpretation, communication, and application of analysis in real-world planning and policy contexts. The position offers the opportunity to work across disciplines and sectors while helping clients navigate uncertainty, emerging technologies, changing economic conditions, and long-term infrastructure decisions.

The person in this role will contribute to projects for a broad range of clients including State Departments of Transportation (DOTs), Regional and Metropolitan Planning Organizations (RPOs/MPOs), transit agencies, ports, airports, economic development organizations, non-profits, and federal/national research programs.

What You’ll Work On

Examples of topics may include:

Data gathering, analysis, cleaning, and processing
Interactions among infrastructure, land use, economic development, and community outcomes
Long-range and scenario-based planning related to transportation, freight, resiliency, and economic change
Economic impacts and benefits of transportation – for example: airport economic impact studies
Infrastructure investment strategy, financial feasibility, and prioritization – especially for freight transport and ports
Performance measurement, metrics, and decision-support frameworks
Development of analytical tools, visualizations, maps, and technical narratives for decision-makers

Candidates in this role are expected to take increasing ownership of technical tasks, analytical approaches, documentation, and presentation of findings. Depending on experience and interests, the role may also include opportunities related to client management, business development, thought leadership, and project coordination.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking candidates who combine analytical capability with intellectual curiosity, communication skills, and an interest in solving complex public-sector and infrastructure challenges. Successful candidates will have:

Experience in transportation, economics, planning, public policy, geography, data science, engineering, or related fields, which may be achieve via
A project-based master’s degree with experience reporting to external clients
2-5 years of relevant work as a consultant or agency employee
Experience working in consulting, research, government, or other project-based environments
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to different audiences
Ability to balance multiple projects and priorities while maintaining attention to detail
Comfort working across both quantitative and qualitative analysis
Curiosity, initiative, and willingness to explore unfamiliar topics and methods
Interest in interdisciplinary and systems-oriented approaches to infrastructure and policy

Preferred Technical Experience

Experience in several of the following areas is preferred:

Statistical analysis, econometric modeling, forecasting, or data processing in R or Python, especially integration of complex datasets
Experience with SQL for data management and analysis
Economic impact analysis (for example, using IMPLAN)
Benefit-cost analysis
Spatial analysis and GIS experience
Survey analysis, especially survey weighting and expansion
Data visualization and communication of analytical findings
Interactive tools or dashboards
Transportation data and tools – for example: travel models, infrastructure condition data, and aviation and freight flow data

Salary Rage

The salary range for this position is $90,000-$130,000.

We expect to hold first-round web-based panel interviews in late summer. Second-round interviews will be in person and will require candidates to present specific work examples as well as skills test outputs.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
