Position Overview

We are actively seeking a highly motivated and experienced Staff Professional to join our dynamic team. This role offers a significant opportunity for a skilled professional to apply and further refine their expertise across a diverse portfolio of environmental, civil, geotechnical, geo-structural, and construction materials testing projects. We are deeply committed to fostering a culture of continuous learning and advanced professional development. As a Staff Professional, you will leverage your existing technical proficiency while proactively enhancing your specialized skills and advancing strategically towards your professional licensure goals. You will collaborate with and be mentored by senior professionals, contributing to complex challenges and expanding your capabilities in a collaborative and intellectually stimulating environment. This position is ideal for a professional eager to deepen their technical knowledge, refine their project management acumen, and contribute meaningfully to our clients' success while continuing a robust path of professional growth.

Our Regional Geotechnical group focuses on serving projects for our solid waste, mining, and power industry clients. These projects span a multitude of geotechnical support roles, from geotechnical exploration in support of Phase 1 Development and infrastructure/support structure design to geotechnical support during site operation and closure, as well as geologic hazard mitigation (structural improvements, ground improvements, and slope stabilization).

Minimum Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a closely related field of study from an ABET-accredited institution.
1-5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in relevant fields
Possession of Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Geologist-in-Training (GIT) certification, with a clear path towards obtaining Professional Engineer (PE) or ASBOG Professional Geologist (PG) licensure.
Required to travel regularly to local and regional project sites (typically within South Carolina and surrounding states) and perform extensive fieldwork under varying environmental conditions, including adverse weather, uneven terrain, and potentially hazardous environments, while adhering strictly to health and safety protocols.

Technical Expertise: Apply and further develop advanced technical skills in areas such as comprehensive field investigations (e.g., subsurface explorations, sampling protocols), sophisticated data analysis, technical report generation, and interpretation of complex engineering specifications. You will continue to build on your hands-on experience across the breadth of environmental, civil, geotechnical, geo-structural, and construction materials testing projects.
Performance Analytics: Contribute to robust data collection and analytical processes to inform project optimization and identify efficiency gains. You will further develop your understanding and application of key performance indicators to enhance project delivery and outcomes.

Client Relationship Management

Proactively engage with clients to understand evolving project scopes, effectively communicate technical findings, and manage expectations. You will continue to cultivate strong professional relationships, acting as a reliable and knowledgeable representative of the firm.

Quality Control and Assurance

Champion the firm's rigorous quality standards by meticulously reviewing project data, ensuring strict adherence to established protocols, and implementing comprehensive quality checks on all project deliverables. Your role will be critical in maintaining accuracy and precision across all project phases.

Project Planning and Scheduling

Take an active role in developing and managing detailed project plans and schedules. You will effectively allocate resources, monitor progress, and proactively identify and address potential delays to ensure the timely and successful completion of project components.

Risk Management and Compliance

Routinely identify and assess potential project risks, developing and implementing effective mitigation strategies. You will ensure stringent adherence to all relevant local, state, and federal regulations, permits, and industry standards, maintaining a proactive stance on compliance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Actively lead and contribute within interdisciplinary project teams, fostering effective collaboration with engineers, geologists, scientists, and technicians. You will leverage your experience to facilitate seamless information exchange and drive cohesive team performance.

Contracts and Vendor Management

Apply your understanding of contract provisions, assisting in the negotiation and management of relationships with sub-consultants and vendors. Your contributions will help ensure contractual obligations are met and project objectives are achieved efficiently.

Business Development

Leverage your project experiences and professional network to identify potential new project opportunities. You will actively contribute to proposal development and client engagement, supporting the firm's strategic growth initiatives.
