Full Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Structural Fitter to join our dynamic fabrication and construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling, fitting, and installing structural components with precision and adherence to safety standards. Your expertise in metal fabrication, blueprint reading, and welding techniques will ensure the successful completion of complex projects across various construction sites. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale manufacturing and construction initiatives while honing your mechanical and fabrication skills in a fast-paced environment.

Duties

Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately assemble structural components.
Measure, cut, and shape metal materials using calipers, micrometers, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other power tools.
Fabricate and assemble structural elements such as ductwork, piping, sheet metal parts, and metal frameworks according to ASME codes & standards.
Operate welding equipment including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), ensuring compliance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards.
Use rigging techniques for lifting and positioning heavy components safely on construction sites or within fabrication shops.
Perform pipe threading, soldering, machining, and assembly tasks with precision using measuring instruments like calipers and micrometers.
Adhere strictly to safety protocols during all operations, including the use of hand tools, power tools, forklifts, and rigging equipment.
Conduct quality inspections of fabricated parts against blueprints and schematics to ensure accuracy before installation or shipment.
Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines while maintaining high standards of craftsmanship and safety.

Experience

Proven construction site experience working with structural steel or metal fabrication projects.
Hands-on experience operating cranes, forklifts, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication machinery.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and ASME codes & standards.
Skilled in welding techniques including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, gas metal arc welding (GMAW), and shielded metal arc welding (SMAW).
Familiarity with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, rulers, and tape measures for precise fabrication work.
Knowledge of safety protocols related to construction sites and manufacturing environments; committed to maintaining a safe work environment at all times.
Experience with sheet metal fabrication, pipe threading, ductwork installation, and mechanical assembly is highly desirable.
Basic math skills including shop math for measurements and calculations related to fabrication tasks.
