Full Job Description

Technical Writer (Medical Devices)

Location: Hybrid (3–4 days onsite per week)
Schedule: Full-Time | Contract

We're seeking an experienced Technical Writer to join a Technical Communications team supporting innovative medical device products. In this role, you'll create and maintain regulated product documentation, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure high-quality Instructions for Use (IFUs) are delivered on schedule and in compliance with quality and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

Author, revise, and maintain Instructions for Use (IFUs) and electronic IFU (eIFU) content using structured XML (DITA-like) authoring tools.
Manage documentation through a Content Management System (CMS) and quality system publishing process.
Perform IFU change impact/effect analyses and support document revisions.
Coordinate translation and localization review activities.
Partner with Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Software, and Product teams to deliver accurate technical documentation.
Support documentation for active medical device product releases while ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
Maintain documentation traceability and support controlled document change processes.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree.
5+ years of technical writing experience.
Experience authoring structured content using Adobe FrameMaker (Structured FrameMaker) or comparable publishing tools.
Experience working with structured content such as XML, HTML, or DITA-like environments.
Experience using Content Management Systems (CMS) for technical documentation.
Strong understanding of document control, change management, requirements traceability, and translation/localization workflows.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting medical devices or another regulated industry.
Experience with Vasont Content Management System (CMS).
Familiarity with:
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe InDesign
Adobe Photoshop
Experience supporting technical documentation for software or hardware product releases.
