Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to support and maintain a state-of-the-art, high-precision CNC manufacturing operation. This position is responsible for ensuring maximum equipment reliability and uptime for CNC machining centers, turning centers, multi-axis machines, automated material handling systems, and facility support equipment. The Senior Maintenance Technician serves as the technical leader for complex troubleshooting, preventive and predictive maintenance, equipment installations, and continuous improvement initiatives that support world-class manufacturing standards.

Essential Responsibilities

Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machining centers, CNC lathes, grinders, and other precision manufacturing equipment.
Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, servo, spindle, lubrication, and coolant systems.
Troubleshoot CNC controls, PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo amplifiers, sensors, encoders, and industrial networks.
Maintain and repair machine tool components including ball screws, linear guideways, automatic tool changers (ATCs), pallet changers, chip conveyors, coolant filtration systems, and hydraulic power units.
Perform machine alignments, leveling, backlash verification, spindle analysis, ball bar analysis and accuracy checks to maintain tight machining tolerances.
Coordinate preventive and predictive maintenance activities to maximize machine availability and extend equipment life.
Conduct root cause analysis on recurring failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
Support machine installations, relocations, retrofits, and capital equipment projects.
Assist Engineering and Manufacturing teams during process improvements, equipment upgrades, and new product launches.
Maintain maintenance documentation, work orders, spare parts inventory, and equipment history using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Work closely with Quality and Production teams to minimize downtime while maintaining product quality requirements.
Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), electrical safety practices, and company safety standards.

Leadership Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to maintenance technicians and apprentices.
Lead complex troubleshooting efforts during critical machine failures.
Assist in planning maintenance schedules and coordinating daily maintenance priorities.
Recommend equipment improvements to increase machine reliability, accuracy, and productivity.
Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) methodologies.
Work with OEM service providers and outside contractors during major repairs and equipment installations.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, or a related field preferred.
8–10+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a precision CNC manufacturing environment.
Extensive experience maintaining CNC machining centers and automated production equipment.
Advanced knowledge of:
Mechanical systems
Electrical systems (24VDC through 480V three-phase)
Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Servo motors and drives
Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, or similar)
CNC controls such as Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Okuma, Haas, Mazak, or Mori Seiki
Ability to read electrical schematics, ladder logic, hydraulic diagrams, and OEM technical manuals.
Strong understanding of machine tool geometry, alignment, precision measurement, and thermal stability.
Experience with precision machine calibration and machine accuracy verification.
Proficiency using precision measuring equipment and maintenance diagnostic tools.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting lights-out or highly automated CNC manufacturing operations.
Fanuc Robotics or industrial robotics troubleshooting experience.
Welding and fabrication skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Expert-level troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
Strong understanding of precision machining equipment and machine tool reliability.
Ability to identify opportunities to improve equipment performance and reduce unplanned downtime.
