This position is an Independent Contractor position

The job duties for this position can be performed remotely, It is also important to note that we are currently unable to support remote positions for individuals located outside the United States.

Founded in 2007, Chi-Chack specializes in supporting government clients with effective training, education, program management, and operational solutions to enhance mission success. Headquartered in Tacoma, WA, with a nationwide workforce of training professionals and subject matter experts, Chi-Chack is also a Women Owned Small Business (WOSB).

Position Summary:

Chi-Chack is recruiting a pool of interested candidates for potential translator roles in a variety of languages. Translation roles may support various government agencies and qualified candidates may be asked to apply to those roles as they become available.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Translate written, electronic, and/or multimedia materials to and from English and one or more target languages. Materials may include, but are not limited to, legal documents, medical records, policies, reports, video subtitles, and audio transcriptions.
Ensure translations are complete, precise, and idiomatically correct, maintaining the tone, style, and intent of the source material.
Conduct research to ensure accurate use of terminology, including specialized vocabulary in fields such as legal, medical, technical, or government-related content.
Proofread and edit translations to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to client or organizational standards.
If required, format translated documents to match the layout and design of the original material, including graphic design and desktop publishing when required.
If required, use translation tools, software, and resources to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with ethical standards in all assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIRED:

Proficiency in English and at least one other language, with demonstrated skills in speaking and listening.
Ability to demonstrate proficiency through an industry standard assessment.
Minimum of two years of experience in written translation.
Be a US citizen or lawful permanent resident.
Ability to pass a background check or obtain a security clearance, if required for specific assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL PREFERRED:

Industry relevant certifications for translation.
Experience in translating specialized content (e.g., legal, medical, technical) is preferred.
Proficiency in using translation and/or transcription software.
A degree in translation, linguistics, or a related field.
Active security clearance.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

Ability to work extended hours and travel if necessary.
