IT Operations Manager
Company: TAS United
Location: Hybrid — Puerto Rico office, with periodic on-site presence; supporting operations in Texas and Puerto Rico
Reports to: Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
Team: Leads a three-person IT team, including application/database support, telecom/infrastructure support, and on-site call center IT. This role also partners closely with our GRC/compliance lead.
TAS United is a technology-focused call center and telephone answering service specializing in medical clients, with offices in Texas and Puerto Rico. We operate in a high-availability, compliance-driven environment, maintaining HITRUST and PCI compliance to protect the sensitive data our clients trust us with.
Technology is not a back-office function at TAS United — it is central to how we deliver service. From our cloud infrastructure to the AI voice automation shaping the next generation of our operations, technology plays a critical role in our ability to serve clients reliably, securely, and efficiently.
We are looking for a player-coach to lead our IT function. This is not a hands-off management position. You will set direction, mentor and develop a capable team, and communicate clearly across the business — while also staying close enough to the technology to design solutions, troubleshoot alongside your team, and make sound technical decisions with confidence.
You will own the full IT stack, including Azure cloud infrastructure, security and networking, telecom, and endpoint management, while also supporting our compliance program. This role runs the day-to-day IT operation and owns how we build, secure, and scale our technology environment.
You will report to our CTO, who architected our cloud foundation and remains a hands-on strategic partner and technical sounding board, while trusting you to run the operation independently.
This role is based out of our Puerto Rico office on a hybrid schedule, with periodic on-site presence expected. Because we operate a 24/7 call center environment, occasional after-hours support and escalation availability is part of the role.
Lead and develop the team.
Manage and mentor the IT team, set priorities, remove blockers, and grow the team’s capabilities. Translate technical realities into clear language for business stakeholders, clients, and internal partners.
Own the cloud and infrastructure.
Own, operate, and evolve our Microsoft Azure environment, including:
Windows and Linux virtual machines
Windows Server Failover Clustering
Azure Entra Domain Services and Active Directory
Azure networking, including Virtual Networks, NSGs, VPNs, Front Door, Application Gateway, and Juniper vSRX firewalls
Azure App Service Environment, App Services, Key Vault, and Azure SQL
Azure Site Recovery
Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
Secure the environment and support compliance.
Own our day-to-day security posture and operate our security tooling, including SIEM, DLP, group policy, endpoint/device management, and RMM. Work alongside our GRC lead, who owns the compliance program, policies, and third-party audits, by implementing and maintaining the technical controls that support them, executing defined procedures, and gathering evidence during HITRUST and PCI audits.
Keep telecom running.
Support and improve our call center telephony, including Asterisk and SIP trunk infrastructure, as well as the Juniper firewalls at our local offices.
Advance AI and automation initiatives.
Partner on our AI voice agent and automation stack as we continue modernizing how we deliver service.
Leadership and communication.
Proven ability to lead a technical team and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences alike. You build trust, develop people, set priorities, and make sound decisions.
Strong security and networking background.
Deep, hands-on experience securing infrastructure and designing, operating, and troubleshooting networks, including firewalls, VPNs, segmentation, monitoring, and access controls.
Azure experience.
Real production experience across a meaningful portion of our Azure stack, including compute, networking, app services, SQL, Key Vault, Infrastructure as Code, and identity via Entra/Active Directory.
Call center and telecom experience preferred.
Hands-on experience with telephony infrastructure, including Asterisk and SIP trunking, is highly preferred.
Compliance familiarity preferred.
Comfort operating in regulated environments such as HITRUST, PCI, or similar frameworks. Our GRC lead owns compliance policy and audits; this role is responsible for executing procedures, maintaining technical controls, and supplying evidence during audits. Working knowledge of underlying controls is more important than audit or policy-authoring experience.
Fully bilingual required.
Fluency in both English and Spanish, written and verbal, is required. Day-to-day work with our local Puerto Rico team and vendors is often conducted in Spanish, while collaboration with the IT team, company leadership, and technical documentation is primarily in English.
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred but not required. Equivalent hands-on experience will be strongly considered.
The following certifications are a plus:
Microsoft Azure: AZ-104 Administrator, AZ-305 Solutions Architect Expert
Security: CISSP, CCSP, or CompTIA Security+
Networking: Juniper JNCIA/JNCIS or Cisco CCNA/CCNP
Compensation will be discussed during the interview process and will be based on experience, technical background, and overall qualifications.
