Description:

HLP Integration is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Senior Python Developer to join our team. In this role, you will apply your strategic and analytical skills to major company challenges. You will team with world-class professionals to develop and test strategies that ultimately impact the bottom line. You will support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) with a Veteran first vision to transform the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) with greater visibility into claims processing. Together, we’re building a future of fast, transparent claims, empowered teams, and striving for a zero backlog, directly supporting Veterans and making a real impact on the lives of those who served. This high-impact solution accelerates the delivery of benefits to Veterans and their families.

Through our Unified Claims Acceleration Platform (UCAP) initiative, we’re transforming the VBA into a paperless, automation-led, AI-enabled organization. Veterans will experience a faster, more transparent, and predictable claims process, while VBA’s workforce benefits from a sustainable and resilient system. Join us and bring this future to life.

Your Role:

As an HLP Senior Python Developer, your code drives impact. Join our team supporting the Unified Claims Acceleration Platform—a high-priority system modernizing how Veterans receive their benefits. Through our VBA initiative, you'll help transform legacy systems into modern, AI-enabled, cloud-native applications that deliver faster, more innovative, and more transparent services.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend applications and APIs using Python (e.g., Flask, FastAPI, Django).
Lead efforts to modernize and refactor legacy systems into microservices running in secure, containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes).
Integrate with AWS-native services including Lambda, RDS, S3, and DynamoDB.
Familiarity with cloud formation and deployment using SAM templates
Collaborate with DevSecOps, data engineers, and UI/UX teams to deliver end-to-end features.
Write and maintain automated unit, integration, and regression tests (e.g., PyTest).
Ensure all code meets security, scalability, and 508 compliance standards.
Mentor junior developers and contribute to code reviews and technical architecture discussions.
Support CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, Jenkins, or equivalent tools.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
10+ years of software development experience, including 5+ years with Python in production environments.
Strong experience with RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and database integrations (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or DynamoDB).
Hands-on experience deploying in AWS cloud environments.
Experience with container technologies (Docker) and orchestration (ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes).
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and DevSecOps practices.
Strong understanding of application security and NIST/FedRAMP-aligned development standards.
U.S. Citizenship REQUIRED and the ability to obtain a government clearance REQUIRED.

Pay: $120,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
