Departmental Overview
The Coleman Fung Institute for Engineering Leadership, launched in January 2010, prepares engineers and scientists - from students to seasoned professionals - with the multidisciplinary skills to lead enterprises of all scales, in industry, government and the nonprofit sector. The Fung Institute is headquartered in UC Berkeley's College of Engineering, which is recognized for its educational and research excellence and is consistently ranked among the top three engineering colleges in the United States.
The Fung Institute offers educational programs that combine leadership coursework in technology innovation and management with intensive study in an area of technical specialization. This integrated knowledge cultivates leaders who can make insightful decisions with the confidence that comes from a synthesized understanding of technological, marketplace and operational implications.
The Digital Marketing Coordinator will report to the Director of Marketing and Communications as part of a team working on telling the story of the institute and its programs.

The Fung Institute for Engineering Leadership (Fung Institute) is seeking a seasoned marketing professional with a proven track record in managing diverse client portfolios and leading creative teams. The Digital Marketing Coordinator will support the marketing and communications needs of the Fung Institute and its internal clients, including UC Berkeley College of Engineering's Professional Master's Programs and Engineering Departments, the Master of Engineering degree program, the online Master of Advanced Study in Engineering degree program, the Fung Fellowship, among others. This marketing role is integral to our mission of advancing engineering education to address global challenges in the digital era.

Responsibilities
Marketing, Paid Digital Advertising, & Campaign Execution - Serve as the Fung Institute's internal paid media executor, working in close partnership with the broader marketing and communications team members (e.g., digital marketing strategist) to implement, monitor, and optimize recruitment advertising campaigns across all programs.
Build, launch, and manage paid advertising campaigns across relevant platforms- including but not limited to Meta (Facebook & Instagram), Alphabet (Google & YouTube), and LinkedIn Campaign Manager.
Implement digital tracking and pixels across Berkeley website pages used in the application process, coordinating with internal web teams and internal and external entities (e.g., Linea) as needed.
Execute campaign strategy developed in partnership with the external strategist, including audience targeting, budget allocation, ad format selection, and creative testing.
Monitor weekly campaign performance across all active platforms; participate in regular performance reviews with the internal team and external strategist.
Execute strategic campaign optimization including audience calibration, budget modifications, objective adjustments, and creative updates.
Maintain organized, accessible records of all active ad accounts, credentials, and account governance structures under Fung Institute ownership.
Track and report on key paid media KPIs including cost per lead, application initiation and completion rates, click-through rates, and return on ad spend.
Oversee the digital marketing intern's paid media execution work - reviewing campaign setup, targeting logic, and performance inputs for accuracy and quality.
Provide timely and accurate data reporting .
Make recommendations to leadership regarding improvements in processes, practices, and use of resources

Email Marketing, Social Media & Web Content (Own the day-to-day execution of integrated digital marketing across email, social, and web channels for all Fung Institute programs.)
Email Marketing
Develop and deploy email campaigns using marketing automation platforms (Slate, Mailchimp, or similar) to nurture prospective students before and during application cycles, and support current student and alumni communications.
Segment contact list audiences strategically for targeted, relevant messaging.
Write compelling email copy and build layouts consistent with brand guidelines.
A/B test subject lines, content, and calls-to-action to optimize performance.
Monitor and report on deliverability, engagement metrics, and conversion rates.
Build and maintain automated nurture sequences for prospective student audiences.
Social Media
Manage the Fung Institute's organic social media presence on Instagram and LinkedIn.
Maintain and execute a weekly content calendar, scheduling and publishing content using Sprout Social.
Collaborate with the creative team to develop visually compelling, on-brand content that supports program recruitment and community engagement.
Track engagement metrics and surface insights for marketing performance reporting.
Oversee the social media marketing intern's social media execution - reviewing content and scheduling for quality and brand alignment
Website Management
Keep all program site pages current, accurate, and optimized - completing content updates within 48 hours of request.
Ensure accuracy of program requirements, application deadlines, faculty information, and program details.
Write and edit web copy that is clear, compelling, and search- and AI-optimized.
Coordinate with the web services vendor on technical updates or troubleshooting as needed.
Event Support & On-Campus Presence (Assist the Marketing & Communications team with event promotion and on-site support for Fung Institute events - approximately 20 annually, including info sessions, workshops, speaker series, student showcases, alumni networking events, and the Institute's flagship year-end Capstone Showcase. This role is a key on-the-ground marketing presence, primarily responsible for content capture and event marketing support.)
Event Promotion Support
Assist with developing event promotional assets including email invitations, digital flyers, and social media graphics - coordinating with the creative team on production.
Support registration page setup and attendee communications as needed.
Help maintain event marketing timelines and coordinate asset delivery ahead of event dates.
On-Site Event Presence
Attend Fung Institute events on and near campus to provide marketing support and content capture.
Photograph and capture short-form video at events for use across social, email, and web channels.
Post live highlights and key moments to Instagram and LinkedIn during and after events.
Provide general event support as needed - check-in assistance, setup, and attendee support - in collaboration with the broader team.
Post-Event Content
Organize and coordinate editing of professional event photography for use in ongoing marketing.
Repurpose event content into social posts, email campaigns, and web updates following events.
Unit Operations & Program Support
Provides services and program operational support across all Fung Institute activities as assigned, including, but not limited to: admissions, recruitment, enrollment, program delivery, student services and student affairs, academic support, analysis, events, advising, finance, human resources and academic personnel, facilities and building operations, program policy development, career and alumni services, program and process evaluation, communications, events, and partner relations.
Collaborate with team leadership to meet departmental deadlines and organizational goals.
Assist in maintaining clear operational and marketing process documentation for team consistency.
Provide timely and accurate data reporting as assigned .
Make recommendations to leadership regarding improvements in processes, practices, and use of resources.

Required Qualifications
4+ years of professional experience in digital marketing, with demonstrated hands-on experience in paid media execution. Proven experience building, launching, and managing paid advertising campaigns on Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads (including YouTube), and LinkedIn Campaign Manager.
Experience with email marketing platforms and marketing automation (Slate, Mailchimp, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or similar).
Experience managing organic social media accounts professionally, including content scheduling and community engagement on Instagram and LinkedIn.
Experience with content management systems for web content updates (WordPress or similar).
Experience supporting event marketing and providing on-site event assistance and working within or alongside creative teams - reviewing deliverables, managing timelines, and coordinating creative workflows.
Experience in higher education, engineering, technology, or mission-driven organizations preferred but not required.

Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $82,800 to $116,300 yearly ($6,900.00 to $9,691.67 monthly). This is a 100% FTE career position eligible for full benefits. This position is FLSA Exempt and paid monthly.
Other Information
Work Arrangement: This role requires a minimum of three (3) days per week on campus and attendance at all Fung Institute events. Occasional evening events (typically 5:30-8:00 PM) and weekend events occur two (2) to four (4) times per year during peak seasons, with advance notice provided.
This position is covered by the collective bargaining agreement between UAW (United Auto Workers) and the University of California Regents for ComMaS.
