Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and creative Community Marketing Specialist to help grow and engage our community through strategic marketing, advocacy-focused communications, and digital outreach. This is a part-time, hybrid remote position with a flexible work schedule and occasional regional travel for events and community engagement opportunities.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is passionate about community building, public policy, advocacy, and creating meaningful connections through marketing and communications.
Key ResponsibilitiesCommunity Engagement & Communications
- Develop and distribute weekly email newsletters to community members, partners, and stakeholders.
- Build and maintain relationships with community members, advocacy organizations, and industry partners.
- Coordinate and promote community initiatives, campaigns, and educational programs.
- Respond to community inquiries and foster engagement across digital channels.
Social Media & Content Marketing
- Create, schedule, and manage social media campaigns across multiple platforms.
- Develop engaging social media content, including graphics, videos, stories, and written posts.
- Monitor social media performance and recommend strategies to increase engagement and reach.
- Maintain a consistent brand voice and messaging across all channels.
Events & Outreach
- Plan, coordinate, and support community events, educational programs, and advocacy initiatives.
- Represent the organization at community meetings, industry events, and stakeholder gatherings.
- Travel occasionally within the region to support events, partnerships, and outreach activities.
Website & Digital Presence
- Update and maintain website content using WordPress.
- Ensure website information remains current, accurate, and aligned with organizational priorities.
- Assist with landing pages, event registrations, and online content updates.
Advocacy & Policy Support
- Monitor and communicate relevant state and local policy developments.
- Support advocacy campaigns through educational content and community engagement efforts.
- Assist in developing materials that inform and mobilize stakeholders around policy issues.
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, or a related field; or a strong professional portfolio demonstrating relevant experience.
- Experience creating social media content and managing digital marketing campaigns.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with WordPress website management.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred
- Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Prior cannabis advocacy, cannabis policy, or cannabis industry experience.
- Interest in state and local government policy, public affairs, or advocacy initiatives.
- Experience organizing community events and grassroots engagement efforts.
- Familiarity with email marketing platforms and analytics tools.
Work Schedule & Compensation
- Part-time position (approximately 15–25 hours per week).
- Flexible scheduling based on organizational needs and project deadlines.
- Hybrid Remote (upon completion of training)
- Occasional regional travel required for events, meetings, and community engagement activities.
