Full Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Production Superintendent who will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the manufacturing / production areas and the employees. Duties include hiring and training manufacturing plant employees, reviewing production data to determine whether employees meet their performance expectations and coordinating with General Manager and Corporate Management to enforce changes to plant operations to meet objectives.

Responsibilities

Production Oversight: Plan, organize, lead and support daily shop floor activities to ensure production schedules, quotas, and deadlines are consistently met. Create and maintain production work instructions and process cards.
Workforce Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and evaluate production supervisors, operators, and shipping/receiving staff. Assist with recruitment, training, conflict resolution, and performance management. Champion coaching, accountability, discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy. Manage the Production Coordinator ensure accurate inventory of painted and raw product at all times.
Safety & Compliance: Foster a culture of safety. Enforce strict adherence to OSHA regulations, corporate environmental health and safety (EHS) policies, and local compliance standards. Investigate any incidents and implement corrective actions.
Quality Control: Collaborate closely with Quality Assurance (QA) Supervisor to maintain strict product standards, minimize scrap/waste, and resolve manufacturing defects quickly.
Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or 5S methodologies to maximize resource utilization and lower operational costs. Make recommendations on key investments in equipment, infrastructure and talent to achieve desired results. Establish a highly motivated work environment and create innovative approaches for improvement.
Cross-Departmental Coordination: Synchronize workflows with Maintenance, Production Control, and General Manager to minimize equipment downtime and ensure raw material availability.
Budget & Metrics: Assist in preparing and managing the production budget. Track, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as labor utilization, cycles per day, production delay time and shift efficiencies to senior management.
Understands and supports DRM’s Values.

Qualifications

Leadership: Exceptional team-building and motivational skills; capable of managing a diverse workforce in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Demonstrated ability to get results through others.
Problem-Solving: Strong critical-thinking abilities to troubleshoot operational bottlenecks and make fast, strategic decisions. Ability to think ahead and plan while maintaining attention to details.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively translate high-level business goals into actionable instructions for floor staff. Must be personable, motivated and a team player. Experience with developing/documenting procedures.
Independence: Ability to act decisively with above average planning and organizational skills.
Management: Previous experience with forecasting, scheduling and real-time operations management.
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting, with at least 3-years in a progressive supervisory or mid-level managmenet role.
