Brewster is a village located in the Town of Southeast in Putnam County, New York, USA. The population was 2,162 at the 2000 census. The ZIP code for all of Brewster, NY is 10509. The name comes from Walter and James Brewster, farmers who owned land where the village is located. The Village of Brewster is the most densely populated portion of the township. Former Mayor John Cesar was known in recent years as New York State's oldest elected official before being defeated for reelection in 2005.
