Brisbane is a small city located in the northern part of San Mateo County, California. It is on the eastern edge of South San Francisco next to the San Francisco Bay and near the San Francisco International Airport. The population was 3,597 at the 2000 census. Locals pronounce Brisbane as "BRIZ-bane"', as opposed to residents of the major Australian city Brisbane, who pronounce the name of their city as '"BRIZ-buhn."
