Cheverly, Maryland

Cheverly is a town in central Maryland, just outside Washington, D.C.. The town was founded in 1918 and it was incorporated in 1931. Cheverly has 6,433 Residents as of the 2000 census. It is one of the few cities in Prince George's County that has its own police force. There is a Washington Metro station in the southern part of Cheverly, on Columbia Park Road. This station is on the Orange Line. It is home to the Prince George's Hospital Center and the Publick Playhouse for the Performing Arts . A noted resident today is Glenn F. Ivey, Prince Georges County state's attorney and his family. Noted former residents include Gladys Noon Spellman, U.S. Congresswoman, and Wayne Curry, former Prince Georges County Executive.
