It is named after Colonel Benjamin Cleveland, a Revolutionary War figure. It is also home to a large manufacturing location of Freudenberg-NOK General Partnership. The town is home to two Jewish camps, Camp Barney Meditz and URJ Camp Coleman, which are essentially back-to-back. Cleveland is best known for its , Babyland General Hospital, where the dolls, the conception of native Xavier Roberts, are created.
