Columbia, Louisiana

The town of Columbia is the parish seat of Caldwell Parish, in the U.S. state of Louisiana. The population was 477 at the 2000 census. Columbia was the home of Louisiana Governor John McKeithen , the first governor to serve two consecutive four-year terms. His son, W. Fox McKeithen, was a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1984-1988 and secretary of state from 1988 until his death in 2005. Another prominent political figure and businessman from Columbia was Jack Keahey, a former member and president of the Caldwell Parish School Board and member of the Tensas Basin Levee Board, having served as president from 2000 until his death in 2007.
