St. John's Northwestern Military Academy, a private Episcopal military school, is in Delafield. The community also hosts St. Joan of Arc Church and School and University Lake School, a private K-12 academy. Nashotah House Seminary is located in the City of Delafield. This Episcopalian seminary was established in 1842, just prior to Wisconsin becoming a state in the union. During the 1840s, Hawks Inn, a stagecoach stop between Milwaukee and Madison, hosted weary travelers as they travelled across the prairies of southern Wisconsin. The building is open for tours Saturday mornings during the summer months and by special appointment.
