Dixon is a city in northern Solano County, California, United States, located 23 miles from Sacramento, California. The population was 16,103 at the 2000 census. Other nearby cities include Vacaville, California, Winters, California and Davis, California. City was originally named Dickson after a citizen. A railroad incorrectly spelled it as "Dixon" in the 1800s and the new spelling has been used since. Dixon is also home to the May Fair, the longest running annual fair in the state of California. It is held at the Dixon Fairgrounds in May, with the four day event ending each year on Mother's Day. Dixon is also the home of the Gymboree Corporation's only Distribution Center, servicing all stores and customers around the world.
