Everett is the county seat and largest city in Snohomish County, Washington located 25 miles north of Seattle. As of the 2000 census the city had a total population of 91,488, making it the 6th largest in the state and fourth-largest in the Puget Sound area. It received the All-America City Award in 2002. In 1984, Everett was selected as the site of a U.S. Navy Homeport, Naval Station Everett. The port formally opened in 1992 and on January 8, 1997 welcomed the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln.
