It is the county seat of Finney County , and provides the campus of Garden City Community College. It is also home to the largest zoological facility, Lee Richardson Zoo, in western Kansas. It was one of the towns depicted in Truman Capote's In Cold Blood and, as county seat, was the location of the trials of the murderers.
